Police showcase drone skills for the World of Drones Congress

On Friday, August 10, Queensland Police Service with the assistance of Queensland Fire and Emergency Service and State Emergency Service will perform a exercise on the Brisbane River for the World of Drones Congress.
The exercise ‘Tinnie on fire’ will showcase a mock emergency of two fisherman in a dingy that has caught on fire.
With the technology of the QPS drones, members of the public will be able to see the emerging scene out on the river.

Armed robbery charges, Thuringowa

Police have charged two teenage boys after the armed robbery of a drive-thru in Thuringowa overnight.
It will be alleged five people entered the High Range Drive business around 9pm and threatened a staff member with a fence paling and metal pole.
Police will further allege the group then left the store with a quantity of alcohol.
Around 12am police located three people at a residence in Heatley.
A 14-year-old Heatley boy has been charged with one count of armed robbery in company and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.
A 15-year-old Vincent boy has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of armed robbery in company, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and stealing.
Investigations are continuing.

Fatal crash, Pacific Paradise

Police are investigating a fatal crash which occurred on the Sunshine Coast late yesterday afternoon.
Around 5.30pm a Holden travelling north on the Sunshine Coast Motorway collided with the vehicle in front which had stopped in a line of traffic under the North Shore Connection Road overpass (Airport exit).
The Holden then crossed to the other side of the road and collided head-on with a car which was travelling south on the Sunshine Coast Motorway.
The driver and sole occupant of the south travelling vehicle, a 48-year-old Sunshine Beach woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A fourth vehicle ran into the back of the south travelling vehicle.
The drivers of two of the other vehicles were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries whilst the driver of the fourth vehicle was not physically injured.

Serious traffic crash, Bluewater

Police are investigating a serious, two vehicle traffic crash which occurred in Bluewater this afternoon.
Just after 3pm two vehicles collided head-on at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Forestry Road.
The 74-year-old female driver of one of the vehicles and the 50-year-old male driver of the other vehicle were transported to the Townsville Hospital with serious injuries.
They were the sole occupants of each vehicle.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or people with relevant dashcam vision to contact police.
Forensic Crash Unit officers continue to investigate.

Indecent treatment charges, Hervey Bay

Police have charged a man on Friday following an investigation into a number of serious offences.
A search warrant was executed at an address in Hervey Bay and a 30-year-old man was arrested on Friday and it will be alleged that police found a vast quantity of child exploitation material on a computer.
He has been charged with a total of eleven counts of indecent treatment of a child, three counts of making child exploitation material, six counts of burglary and two counts of wilful damage and one count of rape.
As part of the investigation, a number of other offences and victims in other parts of Australia are believed to have been identified.
Investigations are continuing.

Unlawful use of a motor vehicle charges, South Brisbane

Three youths have been charged following a series of traffic incidents last night on the Ipswich and Pacific Motorways.
At around 9pm, Polair tracked a stolen vehicle allegedly travelling at high speed along the Ipswich Motorway and then onto the Pacific Motorway.
The vehicle entered the Clem 7 tunnel towards Fortitude Valley and across the Story Bridge and then back onto the Pacific Motorway, allegedly still travelling at speed.
Officers deployed a tyre deflation device at the Logan Road exit however the driver allegedly attempted to drive around it before colliding with a truck.
As a result of the crash, both front tyres were damaged, forcing the vehicle to come to a stop at Springwood where four people were taken into custody.
Three girls aged 14, 17 and 15 were taken into custody at the scene.
The 16-year-old male driver was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to a non-life-threatening head injury.

Armed robbery, Browns Plains

Police have released vision of two men who may be able to assist with their investigation of a robbery at Browns Plains on July 30.
Around 11.30pm a man was standing next to his vehicle in the carpark of take away restaurant on Browns Plains Road. He was approached by two men who threatened him with a knife and demanded the keys for his vehicle before punching him in the head.
The man went into the restaurant for assistance and the men fled the area on foot.
One man is described as Caucasian, very short brown hair with a rats-tail, early-twenties, wearing an orange shirt with black sleeves, black shorts, joggers and carrying a bum bag.
The second man is described as Caucasian, scruffy brown hair, early-twenties, wearing a grey jumper, dark coloured pants, barefoot and carrying a bum bag and pair of shoes over his shoulders.
The 36-year-old victim sustained bruising to the head.

Arson and evade police, Byfield

Police are investigating after a man lit a number of fires and evaded police in Byfield overnight.
At approximately 5.45pm yesterday emergency services were responding to a fire near a camp ground at Waterpark Creek, Byfield.
They were confronted by a man who attempted light further fires and made threats.
A short time later police attempted to intercept a Green Toyota Starlet hatchback in the Byfield area however the vehicle evaded police.
At approximately 2.00am this morning it is believed the same man entered a residence on Richters Road in Byfield and threatened another man with what appeared to be a machete.
The occupant was assaulted before he escaped and hid in bushland before making his way back to the residence at daylight and notifying police.
Upon returning home the victim noticed his Toyota Hilux Utility had been stolen.
Investigators have released an image of a man who may be able to assist police with their enquiries.

Appeal for assistance to identify unknown man, Sandstone Point

Police are seeking public assistance to help locate a man who was observed to jump into water at Sandstone Point early this morning.
Officers were called to Bribie Island Road around 4.15am after a motorist reported seeing the man jump off the bridge and into the river.
Police are conducting an extensive search of the area involving water police officers, divers and a helicopter. So far police have not been able to locate anyone.
Anyone who may have information which may assist police are being urged to contact them as investigations continue.

Armed robbery, Norman Gardens

Police have charged a woman following investigations into the armed robbery of a fast food outlet in Norman Gardens last night.
Around 10.30pm, a woman walked into the business on the corner of Farm Street and Yaamba Road and allegedly demanded cash while producing an item described as a paint scraper.
It will be alleged she received a sum of cash and then left the store on foot.
Officers located a woman nearby a short time later and she was taken into custody.
A 19-year-old Kawana woman has been charged with armed robbery and is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
