Police have charged a 36-year-old man after a large quantity of drugs and weapons were allegedly located in a stolen vehicle at Nerang in the early hours of yesterday morning.
It is alleged that around midnight, officers from the Rapid Action Patrol group intercepted a stolen vehicle on Hinkler Drive, when the male driver became violent.
It is further alleged that a struggle ensued, during which a Senior Constable was pushed to the ground causing a minor injury to his knee, before the man attempted to flee on foot.
A short foot-chase ensued, before officers took the man into custody.
It is alleged that a subsequent search of the stolen vehicle uncovered a firearm, two electronic conductive devices, a set of knuckle-dusters, several rounds of ammunition, methyl-amphetamine, a pipe and cash.
A 36-year-old man of no fixed address has now been charged with three counts of possessing a weapon, two counts of receiving tainted property

Fatal traffic crash, Alligator Creek
Police are currently on scene investigating a fatal traffic crash which occurred at Alligator Creek this evening.
Preliminary inquiries suggest at 8.15pm, a vehicle was travelling along the Bruce Highway when it rolled near Tindall Court.
One man suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported under police escort to Townsville Hospital, however, he has since passed away.
The two other occupants of the vehicle, gender and age unknown, were transported to Townsville Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Motorists are being advised that the Bruce Highway is currently closed in both directions and is expected to remain so for the next few hours.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Update: Armed robbery, Varsity Lakes
Police have charged a boy following investigations into an alleged armed robbery in Varsity Lakes yesterday morning.
It will be alleged at 6.50am a teenage boy armed with a hammer, entered the Varsity Parade grocery store and threatened staff.
He allegedly stole a quantity of cigarettes before leaving the store on foot.
No-one was physically injured during the incident.
A 16-year-old Mudgeeraba boy has been charges with one count of armed robbery.

Suspicious death, Wamuran
Detectives have charged a woman following the suspicious death of a man in Wamuran overnight.
Emergency services were called to an address on Newlands Road at around 7:00pm following reports a man had been struck by a car.
On arrival officers located a 56-year-old man deceased at the scene.
A 52-year-old woman, who was known to the man, was taken into custody and has subsequently been charged with one count each of manslaughter and high range drink driving (BAC 0.241%)
She is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Driving causing grievous bodily harm, Gladstone
Police have charged a man following an incident in which a man was struck by a vehicle in Gladstone overnight.
At around 6:20pm a man became involved in an argument with a 63-year-old man at an address on Oaka Lane.
It will be alleged the man then took another person’s car that was parked inside the yard at Oaka Lane and driven through a vacant block onto Lord Street. The man has then driven in Oaka Lane and into the driveway of the original residence allegedly driving directly towards the 63-year-old man, striking and pinning him under the vehicle.
Police will further allege the man then punched a 46-year-old woman when she attempted to remove the keys from the car, which she owned.
Officers attended and took the man into custody at the scene.
The 63-year-old man was transported to Gladstone Hospital for treatment of a possible broken ankle and fractured pelvis.

Armed robbery, Varsity Lakes
Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Varsity Lakes supermarket earlier today.
At 6.50am, a male, armed with a hammer, entered the Varsity Parade grocery shop and threatened staff.
The male stole a quantity of cigarettes before leaving the store on foot onto Varsity Parade.
No-one was physically injured.
Investigations are continuing.

Unlawful wounding, Beenleigh
A man has been charged following an investigation into an unlawful wounding incident at Beenleigh earlier today.
It will alleged at 9.15am, an incident occurred whereby a 33-year-old man sustained a laceration to his hand.
He was transported to Logan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police located a man nearby in George Street and took him into custody.
It will be alleged officers seized a knife from the man.
A 43-year-old Slacks Creek man is expected to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 30 charged with wounding, assault occasioning bodily harm, possession of a knife, and going armed so as to cause fear.

Unlawful wounding, Surfers Paradise
Detectives are investigating after a 35-year-old woman was assaulted during an incident in Surfers Paradise this afternoon.
Around 2.30pm, police were called to a hotel on Surfers Paradise Boulevard with reports a woman had sustained multiple stab wounds during an altercation with another woman.
The victim was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries to her head and shoulder.

Police officer stood down, Central Region
A 50-year-old male Sergeant from the Central Region has been stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service and will be tasked to perform non-operational duties.
The officer is the subject of an investigation concerning his representation as a Justice of the Peace.
He has been charged with an offence under section 96 of the Criminal Code, false assumption of authority, and will appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on August 22.

Attempted robbery charge, South Brisbane
Police have charged a boy following an alleged attempted robbery at South Brisbane early this morning.
At about 12.30am, it is alleged the boy approached a man walking along Vulture Street and demanded money.
When the man refused, it is alleged the boy struck the man over the head with a dinner plate and kicked and punched the man when he fell to the ground.
It is further alleged the boy fled the scene on foot with a group of associates towards Appel Street without obtaining any cash or property from the man.
The man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment of injuries to his head, face and knee.
Investigations led police to an Appel Street address where a 17-year-old Inala boy was arrested in relation to the matter.
The boy is charged with one count each of attempted robbery with violence, receiving tainted property and obstruct police.
