Robbery with violence charge, Mount Isa

A man has been charged after a taxi driver was allegedly assaulted and had her vehicle stolen in Mount Isa yesterday morning.
It will be alleged on July 22 around 4am the 32-year-old female driver attended a taxi rank on Miles Street where she was flagged down for a fare by a male customer.
The driver then transported the man to a number of locations before being directed to an address along Duchess Road.
As the taxi slowed down the man allegedly grabbed the steering wheel and jumped across to the driver’s side of the vehicle, demanding the victim’s money and phone.
The man allegedly took the items before punching the driver in the face and making further threats for her to exit the vehicle.
The woman complied and the man allegedly fled in the stolen taxi southbound along Duchess Road.
The victim walked 1.5 kilometres before flagging down a passing motorist for assistance.

Property offences – Rockhampton

Rockhampton police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their investigation into a number of property offences which occurred over the weekend.
Police will allege windows were smashed and property damaged at several businesses and cars during Saturday night and early Sunday morning (July 21 and 22), and property such as cash stolen.
The man police wish to speak with is believed to be Caucasian, aged approximately between 18 and 25 was wearing a red Chicago Bulls baseball cap, a red jumper or jacket and dark blue jeans. The man also had an obvious facial injury (blood on his nose) and his right hand was wrapped in a white bandage. The man was carrying a purple backpack.

Wounding charge, Crows Nest

Toowoomba detectives have charged a man with wounding following an overnight disturbance at Crows Nest in which a man was allegedly stabbed.
It will be alleged an altercation occurred between two men at an Emu Creek Road home around 7.30pm during which time one of the men was stabbed in the upper body.
The 38-year-old Crows Nest man was transported to the Toowoomba Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Police arrested a 40-year-old man at an Emu Creek Road residence a short time later and he was charged with one count of wounding. He has been denied police bail and remanded in custody to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court this morning.
Both men are known to each other.

Unlawful wounding, Woodridge

Detectives are investigating after a man sustained a stab wound and head injuries during an attack in Woodridge overnight.
Around 8pm police were called to a Blackwood Road address after the victim was assaulted by two men and managed to alert a neighbour.
A 26-year-old man was located with a stab wound to the upper body, broken right arm and broken nose.
He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to his injuries and is in a serious but stable condition.
A crime scene has been declared with detectives and scenes of crime officers attending.
Investigations are ongoing.

Dangerous operation of motor vehicle charge, Cherbourg

Detectives have charged four boys following an alleged dangerous driving incident which ended in Cherbourg this afternoon.
It is alleged that between the 21st and 22nd of July, a Nissan Qashqai station wagon was stolen from a Montserrat Place address at Forest Lake.
At approximately 2pm today, the vehicle was observed travelling through the Yarraman and Nanango Divisions towards Kingaroy.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle on the Bunya Highway as the vehicle travelled through Tingoora, Wondai and Murgon however it is alleged the driver failed to stop.
At about 2.30pm, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device on Cherbourg Road with the vehicle coming to a stop at the intersection with Stan Mickelo Drive.
It is alleged four boys ran from the vehicle who were taken into custody a short time later.

Update: Shooting incident, Helensvale

Detectives investigating a shooting incident at Helensvale on July 19 have charged a man in relation to the matter.
Around 2.30pm that day, a 42-year-old man was found lying on Helensvale Road with a gunshot injury to his lower right leg.
He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and remains in a stable condition.
Three men aged in their late 20s and early 30s were allegedly seen shortly before the incident with the injured man possibly in a silver or gold coloured hatch.
The men were also allegedly observed in the vehicle acting suspiciously in Lae Drive, Runaway Bay near a local shopping centre.
On July 19, a 32-year-old Upper Coomera man was located and taken into custody, however after further investigations, was released without charge.
On July 22, detectives arrested and charged a 27-year-old Arundel man with one count each of armed robbery, acts intended to cause grievous

Fatal traffic crash, Kallangur

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal two vehicle traffic crash involving a car and motorcycle which occurred late this morning.
Around 10.40am the car and motorbike collided on Dohles Rocks Road at the intersection of Gallipoli Way.
The 32-year-old male motorcyclist from Kallangur sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 60-year-old female driver of the car was not physically injured.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage of the area at the time to please contact them.

Vehicle fires, Blackwater

Police are investigating after two vehicle fires in the Blackwater area early this morning.
At around 4am emergency services attended a vehicle fire on Yeates Avenue.
It is believed the Ford Ranger was stolen from Cooroorah Road in Blackwater sometime between yesterday afternoon and this morning.
At the scene crews received reports of second vehicle on fire on Blackwater-Cooroorah Road.
Whilst proceeding to the second vehicle fire, police observed a Toyota Landcruiser travelling inbound towards Blackwater township.
When officers tried to intercept the vehicle it evaded police on Littlefield Street.
Approximately 15 minutes later the Landcruiser crashed into the yard of a home in Wattle Street.
Preliminary information suggests two people fled the stolen vehicle on foot and were last seen running along south along Wattle Street.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with dashcam vision or CCTV from the area this morning to contact police.

Cyclist injured, Mooloolaba

A cyclist has sustained a broken collarbone after being knocked off his bike by hosing that was strung up across a roadway in Mooloolaba early this morning.
The 56-year-old Sippy Downs man was riding along Goonawarra Drive near Quondong Street around 5.40am when he collided with the hose that was tied to shrubs across the street at chest height.
The man was unable to see the hazard due to low light and fell from his bike.
He was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital suffering a broken collarbone and fractured ribs.
Police are seeking witnesses to this and similar incidents that have occurred in the area.
Residents living along Palm Drive, Tombarra Street, Pettigrew Street and Kalinda Ave who may have CCTV or dashcam vision depicting anything suspicious are urged to contact police.

Armed robbery charges, Kedron

A man has been charged following a number of incidents that occurred in Brisbane overnight.
Police were called just before 9pm following reports a man armed with a firearm had followed the occupants of a vehicle into the underground carpark of a Kedron unit complex.
It will be alleged the man demanded the driver hand over the vehicle on two occasions, however they refused and the man fled.
Around 9.50pm the same armed man is alleged to have threatened the occupants of a car at Lambert Street in Kangaroo Point before stealing the vehicle.
Polair tracked the vehicle to the driveway of a Moyston Street address at Carseldine where the man fled on foot to a nearby property in Yaldara Street.
As officers were responding to this incident, it will be further alleged that the man smashed through a window into the house before being taken into custody by police.
