Fatal traffic crash, Hatton Vale

A man has died following a traffic crash at Hatton Vale early this morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate at around 1:00am a motorcycle was travelling east along the Warrego Highway when the rider fell from his motorcycle, near the intersection of Summerholm Road.
A truck, which was also travelling east, subsequently struck the rider as he lay on the road.
The motorcycle rider, a man in his twenties, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck was not physically injured during the crash.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Assault investigation, Southport

Officers investigating the assault of a taxi driver in Southport on June 2 have released images of two men who may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Just before midnight a man was being driven to the corner of Botanical Drive and Musgrave Avenue in Southport.
On arrival the man fled the taxi without paying his fare. The driver followed the man onto Musgrave Avenue, where he ran onto Government Road.
When the driver exited his taxi he was confronted by a group of four men, two of the men then assaulted the driver, punching him in the face.
The group then fled east along Musgrave Avenue.
The 37-year-old man driver was subsequently treated for facial injuries.
Anyone who recognises the men is urged to contact police.

Update 2: Serious traffic incident, Morayfield

A 22-year-old man has died after an alleged shooting and traffic incident at Morayfield on July 1.
It will be alleged at about 5.15am a stolen Toyota Hilux was travelling on Michael Avenue when a passenger discharged a firearm.
The bullet hit the driver of the vehicle in the back of the neck before the Hilux crashed. Three male passengers fled the scene.
The male driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he passed away at 10.30am today.
A 21-year-old Beerwah man will reappear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on September 26 charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, discharge a weapon in a public place, dangerous conduct with a weapon (rifle), unlawful use of a weapon, possession of explosive (ammunition) and two counts of possession of dangerous drug.

Assault charges, Coolangatta

Police have charged a man after another man was allegedly hit with a glass at Coolangatta early this morning.
It will be alleged the two men, who are not known to each other, were at a licenced premises in Marine Parade around 1am.
A 34-year-old man asked a woman who was dancing with a 21-year-old man to stop bumping into to him. The 21-year-old man allegedly hit the 34-year-old man with a glass to the right side of his face and ear causing a 10cm long cut.
The 21-year-old man tried to leave but was stopped by friends of the other man.
The 34-year-old Kooralbyn man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries to his ear and face.
A 21-year-old Tweed Heads man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court this morning, July 7.

Update: Fatal traffic crash, Proserpine

A man has died following a traffic crash that occurred yesterday morning in Proserpine.
Officers were called to the Bruce Highway around 2 kilometres south of Proserpine shortly after 6am after two 4WDs collided.
Both drivers were treated for non-life threatening injures.
As police were responding to the initial crash, a second crash occurred around 200 meters south of the first crash site.
The driver of one of the three vehicles involved in the second crash, an 80-year-old man, was airlifted to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition yesterday morning but was pronounced deceased later in the afternoon.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.

Serious traffic crash, Murphy’s Creek

A woman has been seriously injured during a single vehicle traffic crash at Murphy’s Creek this afternoon.
Initial information indicates a truck left the road at the corner of Murphy’s Creek Road and Watts Road and crashed into a tree at 3pm.
The 29-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the vehicle sustained life-threatening-injuries and has been airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.
Forensic Crash Unit has commenced investigations into the cause of the crash.

Attempted armed robbery, Manly West

Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a convenience store in Manly West earlier today.
At around 5.30pm a man entered the Trevally Crescent armed with a small axe, threw a bag on the counter and demanded money from a female attendant.
A second female attendant confronted the man with a cardboard box and he grabbed the bag a ran out of the store empty handed.
The man was last seen entering a white SUV which then drove off.
He is described as, 170 to 180 centimetres tall, with a slim build and wearing a blue hoodie with the hood over his head, dark track pants and black shoes.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man or has more information to contact them.

Traffic incident, Kenmore

The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for assistance following an incident involving a car and a motorised bicycle earlier today.
Just after midday, a motorised bicycle was travelling on Moggill Road and a car was travelling on Merlin Terrace.
At the intersection of Merlin Terrace and Moggill Road, the two vehicles collided.
The 78-year-old male rider fell from the bike onto the roadway, causing serious injuries. He was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.
The 82-year-old male driver of the car was not physically injured.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage of the area at the time to please contact them.

Fatal traffic crash, Vernor (Somerset)

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal, single vehicle traffic crash which occurred in Somerset this afternoon.
Around midday police were called following reports a vehicle travelling towards Lowood on Forest Hill Fernvale Road lost control on a bend before veering off the road and flipping onto its roof.
A 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 50-year-old female driver was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition while an 18-month-old child was airlifted to the Lady Cilento Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact police.

Shailer Park man charged with attempted murder and torture

Logan detectives have this afternoon charged a 34-year-old Shailer Park man with attempted murder, following investigations into two incidents last month where a 32-year-old woman was allegedly seriously assaulted.
It will be alleged that on June 5 a 32-year-old Daisy Hill woman was assaulted before being physically threatened with a firearm inside a vehicle at a service station on Leda Drive, Daisy Hill around 7am.
On June 7, as the woman was travelling in a vehicle along the Gateway Motorway through Tingalpa, it will be alleged she was punched a number of times in the head before being forcibly pushed into the car window, resulting in swelling and bruising to her face.
The 32-year-old woman disclosed the incidents to police on July 2.
The man had been arrested by police on June 30 at an address on Juan Street, Alexandra Headland following an alleged 27-hour siege.
