Assault investigation, Noosa Heads

Police are seeking assistance to help identify a group of men following an assault in Noosa Heads earlier this month.
Two men were walking in a carpark just after midnight on Sunday July 1 when they were approached by a group of men.
One of the men then spoke to the pair before punching them both in the head a number of times.
The group then fled the scene and both men were treated for non-life-threatening head and facial injuries.
Police are appealing for assistance to help identify a number of men who they believe will be able to assist with the investigation.
Anyone who can identify any of the men depicted in these images is being urged to contact police.

Public nuisance charges, Kuraby

Two men have been charged following incidents at mosques in Kuraby and Oxley this week.
It will be alleged a group of men attended the Kuraby Mosque on Wednesday around 12.30pm and disrupted proceedings in the place of worship.
It will further be alleged the men caused a public nuisance at the Darra Mosque in Oxley on Thursday around 12pm.
Police intercepted a vehicle in the vicinity where they seized recording equipment including video cameras and mobile phones from the group.
A 31-year-old Bellbird Park man and a 29-year-old Redbank man have both been charged with two counts of public nuisance and one count each of enter premises with intent and trespass.
They are due to appear in the Holland Park Magistrates Court on July 25.
Investigations into the incidents are continuing.

Serious traffic crash, Proserpine

Police are investigating two traffic crashes which occurred about 2km south of Proserpine this morning.
Preliminary inquiries indicate at 6.05am police attended a collision on the Bruce Highway. Two 4WD’s travelling in opposite directions have collided and both drivers were taken to Proserpine Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Whilst attending to the crash police were notified of a second crash 200m further south on the Bruce Highway.
Initial inquiries indicate vehicles were stopped in a line of traffic because of the first crash when a Holden Rodeo has collided with the last stopped vehicle, a Mercedes van. The van has then collided with a Ford Ranger which was also stopped in the line of traffic.
The driver of the Holden Rodeo, an 80-year-old Proserpine man, has been airlifted to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.
The drivers of the other vehicles involved in the second crash received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Suspicious fire appeal, Pacific Pines

Detectives investigating a suspicious fire at a Pacific Pines sporting club last month have released images and CCTV of two people they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
Around 8.32pm on Friday June 29, two unidentified males approached the McAuley Parade building and poured a liquid on the ground.
One of them then ignited it with a lighter and set fire to the building.
The fire was extinguished but the property sustained moderate damage.
Investigations indicate the pair may have superficial burns to their face and hands and any exposed hair would have been singed or burnt.
It is also believed one of the males was using a mobile phone to film the incident.
Anyone who may recognise those depicted in the images or footage is urged to contact police.

Large quantity of illegal steroids located – Coomera

A 29-year-old Coomera man is assisting police with their investigations after a large quantity of illegal steroids and other drugs were allegedly discovered at a unit at Coomera on July 3, 2018.
Around 6.35am police from the Rapid Action Patrol executed a search warrant on a Beattie Road unit where they located a large quantity of illegal steroids, pills, drug liquid and powders throughout the premises.
Officer in Charge of the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly said that police would continue to target all illegal activities on the Gold Coast, in particular drugs.
This a demonstration of police and the community working together to stop the scourge of drugs on our streets.
As a result of information supplied from the public we have removed a large quantity of drugs from our community.

Fatal traffic crash, Mutarnee

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal single vehicle traffic crash at Mutarnee, north-west of Townsville this afternoon.
Preliminary information indicates a light truck towing a box trailer was travelling north on the Bruce Highway at around 5:30pm when it lost control and rolled several times.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 37-year-old Gracemere man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The highway was closed while rescue crews attended however has since reopened.
Investigations are continuing.

Update: Armed robbery, Laidley

Detectives have charged two people in relation to the armed robbery of a Laidley service station on Saturday.
It will be alleged that around 7.30pm, three males entered the Vaux Street business armed with two iron bars.
They allegedly threatened the female staff member and stole cigarettes before running out of the store.
The female staff member was not physically injured during the incident.
A 20-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with armed robbery and is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.
A 16-year old Laidley North boy has also been charged with armed robbery.
Investigations are continuing.

Update 2: Armed robbery, Mackay

Mackay detectives investigating the alleged armed robbery of a Mackay hotel on June 12 have arrested a 24-year-old man.
He appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court today charged with armed robbery in company and was denied bail and is due to re-appear tomorrow, July 5.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith, Crime Services Mackay said this was still an active investigation with police continuing to appeal for public assistance with police re-issuing a photograph of a man they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.
“We are very keen for public assistance to help locate this man. We are also still searching for the driver of the vehicle the offenders used to flee the scene.”

Fatal traffic crash, Coen

A male motorcyclist has died following a traffic crash near Coen in Far North Queensland yesterday.
Initial information indicates around 11.30am the man was riding a motorcycle with a group of riders when he lost control of the vehicle on a bend on Running Creek Road and crashed into a tree.
Other riders attempted to provide first aid, however, the 49-year-old New Zealand national, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Queensland’s 2018 road toll currently stands at 123, two more deaths than at the same time last year.

Fatal motorbike crash, Coles Creek

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal motorbike crash at Coles Creek this evening.
Preliminary investigations suggest a woman was riding the motorbike with a male passenger northbound on the Old Bruce Highway around 5.45pm when they lost control and struck an embankment near Mary Valley Link Road.
The 30-year-old female rider from Mothar Mountain sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 38-year-old male passenger was transported to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition with chest and arm injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
