Burglary with violence, Marsden

Detectives are investigating after an elderly woman was assaulted and war medals were stolen during a home burglary in Marsden overnight.
Around 8.40pm three men wearing balaclavas forced their way into an Ashmore Close residence before they confronted the three occupants of the house.
They demanded money from the residents before searching the home and stealing a cash tin and war medals.
A 68-year-old woman was punched in the shoulder during an altercation with one of the men. She was not seriously injured.
The other occupants, a 71-year-old man and a 39-year-old man were not injured during the incident.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact police.

Serious traffic crash, Miles

A man is in a critical condition after a semi-trailer rolled on the Leichhardt Highway at Kowguran, about 15 kilometres north of Miles last night.
Initial information indicates the semi-trailer transporting rail carriage parts overturned before two vehicles travelling in opposite directions crashed into the trailer around 9.15pm.
The driver of the truck, a man aged in his 50s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Brisbane hospital in a critical condition.
A male passenger from the second vehicle and the male driver of the third vehicle were airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital with non-life-threating injuries.
The Leichhardt Highway remains closed with local diversions in place.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

Unlawful wounding charge, Mornington Island

Police investigating the alleged overnight stabbing of a man on Mornington Island have charged a woman with unlawful wounding – domestic violence offence.
It will be alleged that an argument occurred between a man and woman at a Wardirrkun Street residence shortly after 12.30am today during which time the man was stabbed in the chest.
A 25-year-old man was transported to a medical facility with a serious chest injury.
Police arrested a 23-year-old woman who appeared in the Mornington Island Magistrates Court today and is due to re-appear on July 3.

CCTV: Armed robbery, Annerley

Detectives investigating the armed robbery of a food outlet in Annerley on May 7 have released vision of a man they would like to speak to in relation to the incident.
At 8.25pm, a man entered the Ipswich Road business armed with a knife and a pair of scissors.
He demanded cash from two female employees before leaving with a sum of money.
He was last seen heading south along Ipswich Road.
No-one was physically injured during the robbery.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 180cm tall and aged in his 30s or 40s with blue eyes.
Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact police.

Child grooming charges, Mackay

Yesterday detectives from the Mackay Child Protection Investigation Unit arrested and charged a 53-year-old Ball Bay (via Mackay) man on a charge relating to the alleged grooming of a 12-year-old child.
It will be alleged the man used a carriage service to engage with a 12-year-old girl over a four month period grooming her and exchanging child exploitation material.
A 53-year-old Ball Bay man will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on 10 July 2018 charged with grooming person under age of 16 years.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith is encouraging parents to be vigilant and have a conversation with their children regarding cyber safety.
“Yesterday’s arrest reinforces the important role of parents and trusted adults play in identifying predatory behaviour targeting our children. To assist parent, the Queensland Police Service and the Commonwealth Government E-Safety Commissioner have excellent online resources for parent use regarding this issue,” Detective Inspector Smith said.

Break and enter, Stretton

Police are investigating a break and enter of a service station at Stretton that occurred early this morning.
At about 1.30am, entry was gained to the Compton Road business via a locked glass sliding door.
Offenders removed a quantity of cash and property from the business prior to fleeing the scene.
Damage was caused to the door and electrical systems during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Traffic crash, Newlands

Police are investigating a single vehicle truck rollover that occurred at Newlands yesterday evening.
At about 11.15pm a truck travelling along the Bowen Developmental Road, 50km south of Collinsville lost control and rolled.
The male driver of the truck was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
A two-kilometre exclusion zone has been established as emergency services respond to a chemical spill from the truck as a result of the crash.
It is expected the road will be closed for a number of hours as specialist services travel to the site.
No one else was injured during the incident.

Police are investigating a traffic crash that occurred at Ormeau this afternoon.
At about 5.45pm a vehicle traveling along Peachy Road left the roadway and collided with a number of property fences.
The four occupants of the vehicle were treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Fatal traffic crash, Eumundi

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred at Eumundi this afternoon.
Initial investigations indicate at about 3.15pm, a Mazda travelling east on Eumundi-Noosa Road and a Toyota Prado travelling west collided causing the Mazda to run off the road and down an embankment.
The 44-year-old male driver of the Mazda was pronounced deceased at the scene.
