Appeal for witnesses – Serious traffic crash, Murarrie

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to a serious traffic crash which occurred at Murarrie on Friday night (June 15).
Around 7pm, a motorcycle and a station wagon were travelling east along Lytton Road when they collided at the intersection of Barack Road.
The impact caused the motorcycle rider to flip backwards while the motorbike slid out and into the intersection.
The rider was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating, and is appealing to anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage or who may have witnessed the crash to please contact police.

Boaties rescued off Gladstone

Two men are recovering after spending a night clinging to their boat in waters off Gladstone on Friday night.
The pair arranged to have fuel taken to them after their vessel ran out of petrol on Friday afternoon.
During Friday evening, the boat capsized and overturned south of Rock Cod Shoal, about 20 kilometres east of Gladstone.
The Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) assisted police in the rescue operation and the two men were found clinging to the hull of their boat around 10.30am on Saturday morning.
The pair suffered only minor injuries.
Around 11.40am on Saturday, Water Police were called to Lamont Reef where an EPIRB was activated after a vessel experienced mechanical issues.
The master was suffering chest pains and severe seasickness and required urgent medical assistance.
Water Police located the vessel after receiving information from a private seaplane which assisted in the search.
The two men were rescued from the boat and taken back Gladstone Marina

Fatal traffic incident, Nambour

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic incident in Nambour today.
Preliminary information suggests at 12pm, a hatchback has reversed into a 57-year-old woman and two children as they were on a pedestrian crossing in a supermarket carpark on Mill Lane.
A six-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Nambour Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
An eight-year-old girl suffered a non-life threatening lower leg injury and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
A 57-year-old woman suffered leg injuries.
The 86-year-old female driver did not sustain any physical injuries.
A small section of the supermarket carpark is closed, however, is not impacting on traffic management.
Investigations are continuing.

Armed robbery, Crestmead

Police are investigating an armed robbery which occurred in Crestmead yesterday evening.
At about 10.15pm, three men entered the Bumstead Road service station where one man remained at the front door.
The second man walked to a rear counter and threatened the console worker with a knife while demanding he walk to the cash register with him.
The third man, also armed with a knife, was attempting to open the cash register at the time and demanded the console operator open the till while he removed some cash. The second man demanded goods from the store.
All three men then ran out of the business.
The 24-year-old male attendant was not physically injured during the robbery.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.

Fatal crash, Curra

Police are investigating a single vehicle, fatal crash in Curra last night which claimed the life of two people.
Just after 7pm, police were called to the scene on Harvey Siding Road following reports a vehicle had left the road and collided with a tree.
The male driver and the male passenger were declared deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the cause of the crash.

Armed robbery, North Rockhampton

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a store in North Rockhampton earlier tonight.
Around 6.30pm, a man entered the Lakes Creek Road store in Koongal, armed with an iron bar and demanded money from two shop attendants.
He then left the business in an unknown direction with a sum of cash.
The 65-year-old male attendant and the 62-year-old female attendant were not physically injured during the incident.
The man is described as 175 to 180 centimetres tall with a slim build, wearing dark clothing, a black hat and carrying a backpack.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police.

Armed robbery, South Brisbane

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a bottle shop at South Brisbane earlier tonight.
At around 7pm, a man armed with a screwdriver entered the Cordelia Street shop and made demands for money.
The man them left the scene with a sum of cash.
No-one was physically injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing and anyone with information which may assist is asked to contact police.

Charges – Fatal hit and run, Weipa

A man has been charged following investigations into an alleged fatal hit and run crash in Weipa last weekend.
It will be alleged around 3am on Saturday June 9, the 20-year-old man was struck by a vehicle on Northern Avenue, near the intersection with Annandi Avenue. The man sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
A 25-year-old Rocky Point man was given a Notice to Appear on one count each of driving without due care, fail to remain at an incident, particular licence holder drove motor vehicle between 11pm and 5am without certificate of exemption and driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of liquor or a drug.
He is expected to appear in the Weipa Magistrates Court on July 17.
The Forensic Crash Unit, Scenes of Crime officers and detectives have thanked members of the community for their assistance.

Arrest after Operation Quebec Sturgeon launched, Townsville

A Vincent man has been arrested and charged overnight in relation to a string of serious criminal offences across Townsville yesterday.
Police established taskforce Operation Quebec Sturgeon comprising of Townsville Detectives, Rapid Action and Patrol Group, general duties officers, Tactical Crime Squad and the Dog Squad to identify and arrest those responsible.
The 18-year-old Vincent man has been charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and armed robbery, and one count each of attempted robbery, attempted fraud, enter premises and stealing.
He has been refused bail to reappear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on August 8.
Detectives executed a search warrant as part of their inquiries and seized a number of items.
Investigations are continuing.

Fatal traffic crash, Kabra

A 32-year-old motorcyclist has died following a traffic crash at Kabra, west of Rockhampton this morning.
Initial inquiries indicate the man was riding the motorcycle on Four Mile Road when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and crashed into a tree around 7.30am.
The rider, from Berserker, was declared deceased at the scene.
Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
Four Mile Road has since reopened after being closed for several hours.
