Update – Wounding, Surfers Paradise

Two men have been charged after another man sustained non-life threatening stab wounds to his leg at Surfers Paradise in early May this year.
It is alleged around 5.50pm on May 4, a scuffle broke out between three men at Cavill Avenue where punches were thrown. During the incident it is alleged a 41-year-old man sustained two puncture wounds to his upper right leg.
The injured man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A 43-year-old man from Surfers Paradise has been charged with grievous bodily harm, possess dangerous drug and possess utensil. He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
A 37-year-old man also from Surfers Paradise has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on August 10, 2020.

Prisoner charged over death in custody – Woodford Correctional Centre

Detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit yesterday charged a man following investigations into the suspicious death of a 37-year-old man in custody at the Woodford Correctional Centre on May 6.
A 25-year-old prisoner from the Woodford Correctional Centre was served a notice to appear for murder. He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 20.
Queensland Corrective Services have provided assistance to the Queensland Police Service throughout the investigation.

Fatal traffic crash, Tamrookum

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic crash at Tamrookum this morning.
Police were called to a car and motorbike collision at the Logan River Williams Bridge, between Round Mountain Road and Christmas Creek Road, around 10:45am.
Initial investigations indicate that a northbound motorcycle collided with the rear of a northbound car, which had stopped near the entrance to the bridge to allow a southbound truck to cross.
The motorcyclist, a 74-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing to investigate the incident.

Update 1: Death investigation, Cooloola Cove

Fernando Farias
Detectives investigating the death of 44-year-old Fernando Farias at Cooloola Cove are continuing their appeal for information.
Police attended an Atlantis Avenue address around 2.30pm on Wednesday May 6, where they located Mr Farias deceased.
It is possible he had been deceased for a number of weeks.
Police have released an image of Mr Farias and are requesting any members of the public who may have seen Mr Farias on or around April 24 in Brisbane to contact them (details below).
He was last seen driving a black Toyota Hilux single-cab utility in the Brisbane area on that date.

Armed robbery – Biggera Waters

Three men have been arrested following the armed robbery of a man at an Automatic Teller Machine at Biggera Waters overnight.
Around 12.50am a man armed with a knife demanded money from a 48-year-old man at an ATM at a Brisbane Road shopping centre.
The man handed over some cash and the armed man fled in a stolen white Mazda 3 sedan.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle on service road at exit 45 at Ormeau when it struck the police vehicle and accelerated away.
Around 4.25am officers located the Mazda 3, which had been stolen from an address at Urraween on May 9, on Beerburrum Road at Elimbah.
Three men were arrested and are assisting police with their investigations.
No one was physically injured as a result of the incidents.

Update: Serious traffic crash, Caboolture

A 35-year-old male rider has died following a serious traffic crash at Caboolture on Tuesday, May 5.
Police investigating the serious crash at Caboolture are appealing for public assistance.
At 2.15pm, a motorcycle and white Ford Ranger utility collided while travelling north on Beerburrum Road near Caboolture Show Grounds.
The 35-year-old male rider from Caboolture was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
The 40-year-old male driver from Petrie and his 28-year-old male passenger from Warner were not physically injured in the crash.
Forensic Crash Unit officers are asking anyone who may witnessed the crash, or who may have dash cam footage to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.

Fatal traffic crash, Loganholme

A man has died following a single vehicle traffic crash on the Pacific Motorway in Loganholme this morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate, just before 5.50am, a Mazda single-cab utility vehicle, travelling in the southbound lanes has crashed into the highway’s barrier before coming to a stop.
The man was transported to Logan Hospital and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
Traffic in the southbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway will face some delays while Forensic Crash Unit investigators continue to assess the scene.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
Investigations continuing.

Serious traffic crash, Canungra

Police are investigating a collision between a car and motorcycle this afternoon in Canungra.
Around 4.25pm, a motorcycle travelling southwest on Lamington National Park Road collided with a dark grey Hyundai Tucson.
The male rider was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
The driver and passenger in the Hyundai Tucson were not physically injured.
Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the vicinity and may have dash cam vision, to contact police.

Serious assault of an officer, Redbank Plains

Police have charged three men following an alleged serious assault of a police officer at Redbank Plains last night.
Around 6.55pm, police attended a Willow Road address following reports of a party with people not complying with COVID-19 requirements.
During the police inquiries, a man blocked the entry to the unit and a struggle ensued.
Other people in the unit became involved and a police officer was bitten on the thumb by a man, who then fled the scene.
He was located a short time later and arrested. Two other men who were also involved in the incident were also arrested.
The injured officer was transported to hospital.
An 18-year-old man from Redbank Plains was charged with serious assault of a police officer and obstructing police. He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court today.

House fire, Sunnybank

Police are investigating a fire at a house in Sunnybank overnight.
Around 12.30am, emergency services were called to a fire at a vacant house on Beenleigh Road.
Police have declared a crime scene while investigations continue.
Anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time or has dashcam is urged to contact police.
