Boat fire, Alexandra Hills

Detectives are seeking witnesses to a boat fire at Alexandra Hills this morning.
The 14-foot boat was parked in the front yard of a Kenton Street residence when it caught fire around 5am.
A 42-year-old man was asleep in the boat’s cabin, however escaped uninjured.
The fire spread to a nearby carport and destroyed a Holden Equinox parked underneath.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between 4am and 5:30am to come forward.

Weapons charge, Beenleigh

Beenleigh Railway Squad have charged a man with weapons and drug offences following an incident at Beenleigh Railway Station on Friday night.
At 9.40pm, the squad were monitoring CCTV of the railway station when the noticed a man acting suspiciously by loitering in near the carpark.
Police attended and spoke to the man in relation breaching COVID-19 home confinement directions as he did not have an essential reason for being in public.
While speaking with officers, police suspected the man to be under the influence of drugs.
A subsequent search of the man’s backpack showed the man was carrying a loaded handgun.
A further search located a syringe and an amount of Heroin.
A 40-year-old Woodridge man has since been charged with possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of a weapon while under the influence of a drug, possessing tainted property and failing to dispose of a syringe and needle.

Unit complex fire, Biggera Waters

Police are investigating a unit fire at the Gold Coast overnight.
At 1.30am, emergency services were called to the Black Street unit complex following multiple reports of the fire.
On arrival, officers found the complex well ablaze and worked quickly to evacuate neighbouring units.
A crime scene was declared at 1.45am as officers work to establish the cause of the blaze.
Two people who reside at the complex remain outstanding at this point.
Eight units in the complex were damaged by the fire.
Investigations are continuing.

Update: Pursuit of stolen vehicle, Sunshine Coast

Two boys have been charged after a stolen ute allegedly rammed a number of police cars on the Sunshine Coast this afternoon.
A total of eight police vehicles were damaged as a result of the incident, however no one was seriously injured.
A 12-year-old Logan Central boy and a 14-year-old Bli Bli boy have both been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evasion and driving unlicensed.
Police attended Mooloolah Valley just after 1.20pm following sightings of a white Ford Ranger in the area that had been stolen from Maroochydore on April 9.
Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle however it allegedly drove away at high speed.
Police followed the Ranger as it travelled along Steve Irwin Way toward Caloundra, at times crossing onto the incorrect side of the road at speed.

New restrictions to tighten Queensland borders

Further restrictions are being put in place to tighten existing state border controls to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
From midnight on Good Friday (April 10) all Queenslanders returning home from interstate will require a new Queensland Entry Pass. All existing green entry and vehicle passes are void at 12.01am on Saturday, April 11.
Passes will be individually issued, and an application will be required for each person entering the State, including children. Online applications can be made at www.qld.gov.au/border-pass.
An exempt resident who arrives in Queensland must self-quarantine for fourteen days if they have been in a COVID-19 hotspot area unless their travel was for an essential purpose.
There is no change for interstate freight transport services which will remain exempt.
The intent of the restrictions is to minimise social contact and non-essential travel to protect the health and safety of everyone in the community.

Pursuit of stolen vehicle, Sunshine Coast

COVID-19 infringements issued, Loganholme

Police issued a further 18 COVID-19 infringement notices overnight after intercepting a number of vehicles allegedly conducting burnouts at an industrial area in Loganholme.
Officers were called to Josphine Street at around 10.50pm following reports of a noisy gathering of vehicles in a vacant carpark.
The road was cordoned off and police took up with at least ten cars that had been performing burnouts.
Police issued 18 infringement notices of $1,334 for failing to comply with a COVID-19 direction issued by the Chief Health Officer (CHO).
Queenslanders are reminded that blatant disregard for the CHO directives will not be tolerated, and police will continue to ensure compliance over the Easter long weekend – particularly around self-isolation, mass gatherings, borders, non-essential business activity and private residence gatherings.

Drugs seized at Gold Coast border checkpoint

A 31-year-old man will face drug charges after his arrest at a state border checkpoint on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers performing duties at the state border checkpoint on the Pacific Highway, Tugun intercepted a Ford Ranger utility with a trailer attempting to enter Queensland at approximately 5.30pm on April 8.
It will be alleged that during a search of the vehicle police located 93 kilograms of cannabis and $4,300 cash. The drugs located have a street value of $450,000.
A 31-year-old Palm Beach man was arrested and charged with the possession of dangerous drugs and the possession of property suspected of be used in connection with a drug offence.
He has been bailed to appear at the Coolangatta Magistrates Court on July 6, 2020.
The man was also issued a $1,334 infringement notice for breaching the Chief Health Officer’s direction.

Update: Robbery with violence, Lockyer Valley

Detectives investigating the robbery of a pregnant woman in the Lockyer Valley on Tuesday morning, would like to thank the community for providing information.
Around 6am the 31-year-old was attending a store at the corner of Brightview Road and Grove Street in Glenore Grove when the man (pictured below) entered her 2008, white Hyundai i30, also containing a three-year-old boy.
As the man reversed the vehicle out of the car park, the woman has attempted to open the driver’s side door and let him know her child was still in there.
The man then continued a short distance, before stopping briefly to remove the child from the car and was last seen driving east along Brightview Road.
The woman suffered minor injuries, while the toddler was not harmed.
Police wish to speak with the man pictured, who they believe will be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as Caucasian, around 170cm tall, slim

Police shooting, Oxley

Police are investigating a series of incidents in Oxley this afternoon which has resulted in a man being shot by police.
At 2pm, police responded to a traffic crash along Oxley Station Road. One of the drivers left the scene on foot, allegedly armed with a knife.
Police responded quickly and sighted the armed man, who ran towards police with the knife before being shot.
Police rendered first aid immediately and the man has now been transported to hospital in a critical condition.
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have CCTV of the area to please contact them.
The matter will be subject to investigations by Ethical Standards Command with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
Investigations are continuing.
