Update: Armed robbery, North Mackay

A man has been charged following the alleged theft of a vehicle containing a five-year-old boy in North Mackay yesterday.
The man was arrested on Keelys Road in Andergrove.
A 40-year-old Bucasia man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, serious assault and possession of dangerous drugs.
He is scheduled to front the Mackay Magistrates Court today.

Update: Serious assault, Capalaba

Detectives investigating a dispute between the drivers of two vehicles in Capalaba on Monday, April 6 have charged a man.
Around 4pm a 71-year-old man drove his gunmetal grey VW Amarok dual cab ute to the intersection of Redland Bay Road and Neuman Road.
It is alleged the occupants of a white Kia Cerato, a man and woman, exited their vehicle and approached him.
A verbal exchange occurred between the elderly man and the woman as he sat in his vehicle, before the man allegedly punched him a number of times through the driver’s side window.
The 28-year-old Mitchelton man was arrested and charged with serious assault of a person over 60.
He is due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on April 30.

Armed robbery, Vincent

Police are investigating after a taxi driver was robbed in Townsville early this morning.
The 40-year-old male driver transported a male passenger to the intersection of Palmerston Street and Beattie Crescent in Vincent around 2.40am before requesting payment.
The passenger grabbed the steering wheel and forced the taxi over to the side of the road before producing a metal instrument from his pocket.
He then punched the driver a number of times and reached into the centre console, taking his money and phone before fleeing.
The taxi driver sustained facial injuries as a result of the robbery.
The man is described as aged in his 20’s with a slim build, dark complexion, bald and was wearing a black t-shirt.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Armed robbery, Kuraby

Police are investigating after a driver from a ride sharing service was robbed by two people armed with knives at Kuraby this morning.
The 28-year-old male driver collected two male passengers from an address at Woodridge around 1am and transported them to Kuraby train station.
As the vehicle travelled down Allingham Street the front passenger produced a knife.
The driver then punched the armed man before the rear passenger also produced a knife.
The driver immediately exited the car and the pair drove away in his vehicle, a black Holden Equinox with QLD registration 424YMT.
One of the men is described as around 18-years-old, Islander in appearance with a slim build, around 160cm tall and was wearing long pants and a black hooded jumper.
The second male is described as Caucasian, around 15-years-old with a short, brown hair and was wearing a black t-shirt, and denim shorts.

Evade police, Kingaroy

Police are seeking public assistance to locate a stolen Mitsubishi Magna with Queensland registration 719VUN which was involved in a series of incidents in Kingaroy earlier today.
At 1.30pm, an off-duty police officer sighted a person of interest in the vehicle at a petrol station on Youngman Street.
Officers attended and then located the vehicle in the backyard of a Victoria Street address. At this point a man drove the vehicle directly at police officers before driving away.
The vehicle was sighted heading towards Memerambi on the Bunya Highway from Kingaroy where it evaded police and continued to be driven dangerously.
The last sighting of the vehicle was between Goomeri heading towards Murgon.
Anyone who sees the vehicle is urged not to approach it but to call police immediately.

Armed Robbery, North Mackay

Police have arrested a man after a car containing a five-year-old boy was stolen from an address in North Mackay this morning.
Around 11.20am a man who had been completing repair work at a College Court home reported that another man exited the residence, armed with a knife and threatened him.
The man has then attended a nearby address and stolen a vehicle, a white utility, also containing a 5-year-old child who had been asleep in the backseat.
The child’s parent was in the process of taking the child out of the car when he was interrupted by the man.
It will be alleged that the man also lit a fire at the original residence causing minor damage.
Police intercepted the vehicle a short time later on Keeleys Road and arrested a 40-year-old North Mackay man without further incident.
The boy was not physically harmed and was reunited with his parents.
Investigations are continuing.

Operation Romeo Sunroof closure results in drug and firearms arrests

Investigators from the Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad yesterday closed a six-month operation targeting drug offences committed across the Brisbane and Logan areas, by a criminal syndicate.
As part of Operation Romeo Sunroof, investigators working in partnership with Logan District Police and specialist units executed search warrants on nine properties in the Brisbane and South Eastern Police Regions.
During the protracted operation, police seized 14 kilograms of cannabis, 360 grams of amphetamine, 26 grams of cocaine, MDMA, taser device, $150,000 in stolen machinery, one $80,000 vehicle and $146,230 in cash as proceeds of crime.
Eight people were charged on 52 offences, including a 28 year-old man from Springwood on trafficking in dangerous drugs and receiving tainted property. The man is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 8. The seven others charged have been bailed to appear in court over the next few months.

Argos arrest, Brisbane

Detectives from Argos and the Morningside Child Protection Investigation Unit arrested a 43-year-old man for the sexual exploitation of two girls under 12, as part of ongoing efforts targeting those who offend against children.
The Brisbane man was arrested on Saturday April 4 following the execution of a search warrant at his premises where digital evidence was seized. The two children were located and have been rescued from any further harm.
The man was identified by the Argos Victim Identification team after distributing child exploitation material online of the abuse of two young girls.
The man has been charged with multiple counts of rape, indecent treatment of a child under 16 and making and distributing child exploitation material. He is remanded in custody and expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 13.
The investigation has revealed the offending occurred over a significant period of time with further charges anticipated.

Revocation of stand down police officer, Central Region

A 27-year-old constable from Central Region who was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service will now return to operational duties.
The officer was stood down on 1 October, 2019 in relation to inappropriate access to confidential Queensland Police Service information. The court proceedings in relation to this matter have now been finalised and the disciplinary process has been commenced.

Drug charges, Southern Downs

Darling Downs detectives have charged 42 people with 194 offences following the closure of a Southern Downs drug operation.
Operation Romeo Sunscreen commenced in October, 2019 targeting the supply of methylamphetamines in Allora and Warwick.
Search warrants were executed at a number of addresses yesterday where MDMA, methylamphetamines, heroin, cocaine, cannabis, drug utensils, used syringes, firearms, a conductive energy device, flick knife, knuckle dusters and more than $10,000 worth of cash was allegedly located.
Police will also allege a bobcat worth around $35,000 was also located during the process.
All have been charged with offences relating to trafficking of dangerous drugs, supply of dangerous drugs, possession of utensils and unlawful possession of firearms and restricted weapons.
Some have already appeared in the Warwick Magistrates Court with the remaining to appear either there or at the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on a later date.
