Revocation of stand down police officer, Southern Region

A 55-year-old senior constable from Southern Region who was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service will now return to operational duties.
The officer was stood down on December 11, 2019 in relation to making a false declaration under the provisions of the Criminal Code. The court proceedings in relation to this matter have now been finalised and the disciplinary process has been commenced.

Robbery with violence, Lockyer Valley

Police are appealing for information following the robbery of a pregnant woman in the Lockyer Valley yesterday morning.
Around 6am the 31-year-old was attending a store at the corner of Brightview Road and Grove Street in Glenore Grove when a man has entered her white 2008 Hyundai i30, also containing a three-year-old boy.
As the man reversed the vehicle out of the car park, the woman has attempted to open the driver’s side door and let him know her child was still in there.
The man then continued a short distance, before stopping briefly to remove the child from the car and was last seen driving east on Brightview Road.
The woman suffered minor injuries, while the toddler was not harmed.
Police wish to speak with the man pictured, who they believe will be able to assist with their inquiries.

Fatal crash, Acacia Ridge

Police are investigating fatal single vehicle crash at Acacia Ridge last night.
Preliminary information suggests a car was travelling along Learoyd Road around 10pm when it struck a power pole at speed before continuing through a fence and catching fire.
The male driver and sole occupant of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Five Queensland Police Officers awarded for bravery in the field

Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services, the Honourable Mark Ryan MP, and Commissioner Katarina Carroll have congratulated the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Officers who received Australian Bravery Decorations in honour of their heroic efforts.
A total of five officers have received medals and citations as part of the Australian Bravery Decorations, announced by the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd).
The awards honour those across Australia for their selfless actions in times of danger and threat, celebrating their bravery and the example they set.
Commissioner Carroll said the QPS recipients of the Bravery Medals had shown great bravery in the face of extreme danger.
“Senior Sergeant Bradyn Murphy from the Gold Coast District Road Policing Unit has been recognised for his actions during the apprehension of two armed offenders following a high-speed vehicle pursuit near Tweed Heads in New South Wales on February 5, 2015,” Commissioner Carroll said.

Police issue fines for non-compliance of COVID-19 rules

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has taken enforcement action against a Brisbane massage parlour after it allegedly failed to comply with COVID-19 Public Health Directions.
Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad were undertaking compliance checks when the Lutwyche business was found to be offering massage services yesterday.
Under the Chief Health Officer’s directions, spas and massage parlours can no longer operate during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Additionally, police will allege the Lutwyche Road business was offering prostitution services.
A 37-year-old Kedron woman was issued with a notice to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 6 in relation to the offences of knowingly participating in the provision of prostitution services and possessing tainted property.
The woman was also issued with an on the spot infringement of $6,672.50 for a business which failed to comply with public health directions under the Public Health Act.

Major drug operation closure, Mackay

Detectives from the Mackay Tactical Operations Team last week closed a major and protracted investigation, seizing drugs, cash, guns and luxury cars.
As a result of the raids, police located and seized 1.7kg of methylamphetamine, 6 ounces of MDMA, 13 grams of Cocaine, 500g of Cannabis, various steroids, methylamphetamine production lab equipment, in excess of $100,000 in cash, a number of rifles and handguns and several luxury cars and motorcycles.
Operation Romeo Suitcase targeted a major drug syndicate based in Mackay, with its network and operations extending from Gold Coast to Cairns and the drug syndicate also having links to Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.
As part of the operation on March 15, detectives arrested and charged a Gold Coast man with drug trafficking, following a raid at his residence.

Robberies and stolen cars, Currumbin and Ashmore

Police have arrested a total of ten people following a series of separate incidents on the Gold Coast overnight.
At 10:30pm, it will be alleged a man and a teenage boy smashed the front entry of a Bienvenue Drive business in Currumbin Waters before the duo allegedly stole a quantity of drugs.
Police attended the address and located two people in a vehicle which allegedly sped off.
The vehicle was tracked with the assistance of Polair 2 and located at the end of Currumbin Creek Road in Currumbin Valley.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with break and enter while a 19-year-old man is currently assisting with inquiries.
While in the area, police located two stolen vehicles believed to be unrelated to the robbery.
A Mercedes had crashed at the intersection of Valley Drive and Rosewood Crescent. The occupants, three girls and a boy had abandoned it before they were arrested nearby

Serious traffic crash, Mena Creek

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious crash in Mena Creek overnight.
Around 11.45pm, a 24-year-old Babinda man was travelling on Mena Creek Road when he lost control of the car causing it to roll.
The man was flown to Townsville hospital in a critical condition.
Forensic Crash Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam vision to contact police.

Update: Assault investigation, Kingston

A 47-year-old man has died in hospital after he sustained a stab wound during an incident at Kingston yesterday afternoon.
The man had been taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition after the incident at an Aquarius Drive residence around 2.35pm yesterday.
Logan Detectives have located and charged a 19-year-old man with murder. He is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, March 31.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with any knowledge of the incident at the Aquarius Drive residence around 2.35pm to please contact Crime Stoppers.

Drug charges, Stanthorpe

Detectives have arrested a man after allegedly locating a significant quantity of cannabis during a raid at a property in Stanthorpe last Friday.
Officers executed a search warrant at a Best Lane residence in The Summit where they located and seized 59 cannabis plants with a combined weight of 11 kilograms.
Police charged a 48-year-old Stanthorpe man with producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property for use in the commission of a crime and possessing drug utensils.
The man will appear in the Stanthorpe Magistrates Court on June 24.
