Gold Coast police would like to remind motorists of upcoming road closures due to the 40th Gold Coast Marathon and associated events.
The event will be conducted over two days, Saturday June 30 and Sunday July 1, with over 30,000 competitors expected to participate in this year’s event.
All events start and finish at the Southport Broadwater Parklands. The course for the marathon, which will be held on Sunday, extends right down to include the Esplanade at Burleigh Heads.
Police have been working with other agencies to ensure the marathon and associated events are conducted safely and with minimum disruption to traffic.
Motorists are advised that diversions will be in place and delays expected over the two days of event and recommend motorists avoid travelling along the route.
“Approximately 100 officers will be policing the two-day event accompanied by 200 marshals to ensure public safety and to minimise disruption to local residents
