Escape from custody, Toowoomba

A man escaped from a police prisoner vehicle at Toowoomba yesterday.
Police will allege at 8:30am they were transporting several prisoners from Toowoomba to Brisbane for court purposes.
As the police prisoner van was travelling down the Range, one of the prisoners allegedly commenced kicking the door of the prisoner pods. The kicking was so extreme the officers decided to stop the vehicle as they believed the prisoner was trying to break out.
As they stopped the van, the prisoner who had damaged the internal pod, was able to escape from police.
The man ran up into bushland and police resources were deployed.
With the assistance of calls from the public, police were able to set up a cordon around East Street.
Multiple police resources were deployed to the cordoned area, including the dog squad who tracked the man to a house in East Street.
