Man charged with going armed, Sunnybank

A taxi driver flagged down a passing police car after his male passenger allegedly produced a knife at Sunnybank this afternoon.
Shortly after 12.30pm a 36-year-old taxi driver was travelling down Ditton Street when it is alleged his male passenger began acting erratically and produced a large knife.
The driver attempted to reason and calm the man whilst continuing to drive the taxi. A short time later he spotted a police vehicle approaching Ditton Street and flagged it down before stopping and fleeing from his vehicle.
Officers arrested the male passenger without incident and a subsequent search allegedly found a knife in the man’s possession.
A 36-year-old Sunnybank Hills man has been charged with going armed so as to cause fear and common assault. He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The taxi driver was not physically injured.
