Detective Senior Sergeant Bliss
Detective Senior Sergeant Sam Bliss was a keynote speaker and honoured guest at Tuesday’s NAIDOC ceremony at Queensland Police Service Headquarters, raising the Torres Strait Islander flag.
For almost 25 years, DSS Bliss has dedicated herself to serving the people of Queensland.
As a proud Torres Strait Islander woman and QPS officer, DSS Bliss is a leader in her community, being named Mackay Resident of the Year 2016 as well as representing her area as baton bearer for the Commonwealth Games.
Specialising in Child Protection, DSS Bliss currently acts as the QPS representative on the Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Team.
Through her work at the QPS and local initiatives in Mackay, DSS Bliss is committed to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families through education, intervention and cultural understanding.
Her hands-on and passionate involvement makes DSS Bliss an inspiring leader, helping her to make a difference every day.
