New driver distraction campaign ‘Leave Your Phone Alone’

The Queensland Police Service and Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) are encouraging all road users to set up their Do Not Disturb feature on their mobile phones before they get behind the wheel.
Research shows that a driver’s reaction time is comparable to a drink driver with a blood alcohol reading between 0.07 and 0.107.
 

You can set up this feature to automatically activate every time you drive.
You won’t receive any messages until you arrive at your destination and if someone has sent you a text message, they will receive the automated response above to let them know that you are behind the wheel.
Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating from Road Policing Command (RPC) said there is no safe way to use your mobile phone while you are behind the wheel.
