Police are warning motorists to obey the road rules despite the current restrictions around travel in recent weeks.
Road Policing Command Superintendent Dale Pointon expressed frustration at an increased amount of people still drink driving or speeding on Queensland’s roads.
“We are seeing a concerning trend in increased numbers of people being detected for speeding, drink and drug driving.
“The current circumstances are not an excuse to break the road rules,” Superintendent Pointon said.
Earlier this month, police intercepted a 36-year-old woman on Howard Kennedy Drive at Babinda just before 9am.
She allegedly returned a roadside blood alcohol reading of 0.315 and was served with a Notice to Appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on July 6.
Earlier this week, a 31-year-old Edens Landing man allegedly registered a speed of 133km/h as he crossed the Gateway Bridge in an 80km/h speed zone.
The man was issued with a $1,245 infringement notice for speeding in excess of 40km/h.
