Police saturated Pimpama and surrounding suburbs yesterday as part of a concentrated proactive operation to deter and detect criminal activity in the area codenamed “Lock Down”.
The one-day operation saw officers from the Gold Coast Northern Patrol Group, Road Policing Command, the Railway Squad and the Mounted Unit conduct high-visibility patrols and enforcement across the northern suburbs particularly Pimpama.
As part of the enforcement phase search warrants were executed in the Pimpama area by local detectives with quantities of methylamphetamines, cannabis, steroids and a telescopic baton allegedly located. Eight people were also charged on 19 offences including possession of a restricted weapon and drug offences.
During patrols of the Pimpama area officers located three motorcycles which had allegedly been stolen just prior from a burglary at a residence. Further police patrols in the area also resulted in three drug arrests and possess utensil and category M weapon offences.
