A 53-year-old male Detective Senior Sergeant from the State Crime Command who was stood down earlier this year from official duty with the Queensland Police Service has now been reinstated to perform operational duties.
This officer was stood down on June 11 this year after originally suspended from duty on February 11, 2014 whilst subject to investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).
The officer was the subject of an investigation relating to conducting unauthorised searches on a QPS computer system that were not connected with his official duties and releasing information.
As a result, a criminal prosecution was commenced by the CCC before the Brisbane Magistrates Court, in relation to one charge of Computer Hacking, section 408E of the Criminal Code and two charges of Misconduct in Public Office section 92A of the Criminal Code, which on March 6, 2017 were withdrawn due to “no evidence to offer”.
