Police have arrested a man following an alleged serious assault in Maryborough last night (February 1).
At about 4pm police were called to a Colman Crescent address following reports a 52-year-old Maryborough man had been assaulted by a man armed with a baseball bat.
The 52-year-old was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital for treatment for a broken arm.
Police will allege that after the assault the man left in a vehicle taking a 49-year-old Maryborough woman, who had been at the address, with him.
The vehicle travelled southbound on the Bruce Highway to the Sunshine Coast before turning back and heading northbound on the highway.
With the assistance of Polair police attempted to intercept the car on the Bruce Highway at Palmview at around 6.40pm.
Police will allege the vehicle failed to stop and drove dangerously weaving in and out of traffic at roadworks before striking a concrete barrier, which resulted in the vehicle’s airbags being
