Serious assault police, Townsville

Police have charged a 35-year-old man after he allegedly assaulted a female constable in Kirwan last night.
It will be alleged around 7.50pm, police were responding to reports of a street disturbance on President Street when several people became aggressive towards officers.
While police were arresting a man, he allegedly struck a 21-year-old female constable in the jaw.
The officer sustained bruising and was treated at Townsville Hospital.
The 35-year-old man was charged with one count each of serious assault police, obstruct police and public nuisance.
He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.
