Police have charged eight people with trafficking and possession of dangerous drugs charges following the closure of Operation Romeo Cosine.
Yesterday officers from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad and Taskforce Maxima-Organised Crime Gangs Group executed a number of search warrants targeting individuals involved in the distribution of cocaine.
It will be alleged that during a search warrant at Surfers Paradise, a man who ran from police produced a knife at officers before being taken into custody. This person was allegedly found to be in possession of one-kilogram of cocaine.
As a result of the search warrants police seized cocaine, cannabis, mobile phones, a knife, equipment used to compress and stamp cocaine, and a motor vehicle.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Galpin of the Major and Organised Crime Squad said QPS were actively seizing on every available opportunity to target groups who continue to engage in illicit and criminal behaviour.
