A 29-year-old man has been charged with 18 offences after a male senior constable sustained a severe hand injury in Kelso this afternoon.
It will be alleged at 1.50pm, police attended a Riverway Drive address to apprehend a wanted person.
When police arrived, a 29-year-old man attempted to drive out of the property through several gates and fences.
It will be further alleged the man’s vehicle rammed into a police vehicle, crushing the police officer’s hand between the two vehicles causing him to lose the tips of two fingers.
The officer sustained significant, but non-life threatening injuries and is being flown to Brisbane for surgery.
The 29-year-old man sustained minor injuries.
