Olympic runners Genevieve and Ryan Gregson have agreed to sell their Morningside family home under a conditional contract as they relocate closer to training facilities, while Genevieve pursues selection for a fifth Olympic Games at Los Angeles 2028.

The couple’s four-bedroom, three-bathroom Queenslander at 108 Kates Street was marketed through Sam Battel of McGrath Bulimba with offers above $1.9 million.
The agreed price was not disclosed because the contract remained conditional.
The Gregsons paid $1.641 million for the approximately 400-square-metre property in late 2021 after moving from Melbourne to Brisbane. They secured the home at auction, where the final difference between the competing bids was $1,000.
For the latest transaction, the couple chose to negotiate with prospective buyers rather than return to auction, taking a different approach in softer market conditions.
Inside the Morningside Family Home
The renovated residence retains Queenslander features on its upper level, including polished timber floors, VJ walls and a front verandah. Its four bedrooms include a main suite with a walk-in wardrobe, ensuite and French doors opening to the deck.
The ground floor has polished concrete floors, high ceilings and an open-plan living and dining area. The kitchen includes 40mm waterfall stone benchtops, Asko appliances, a glass splashback and a butler’s pantry.
A covered entertaining area with a built-in barbecue adjoins a recently installed swimming pool and low-maintenance landscaping.
Other features include a downstairs bathroom, separate laundry and mudroom, ducted air-conditioning, storage areas, a double carport, secure fencing and a 6.6kW solar system.
Training Move Supports Family Plans
The sale accompanies the family’s move to a property closer to training facilities, with more space for their young family to grow.
Motherhood has changed Genevieve’s approach to elite competition, with family taking priority alongside her athletic goals rather than performance results alone.
The couple’s first move to Brisbane followed Genevieve’s Achilles rupture at the Tokyo Games. She later returned to Olympic competition in the marathon at Paris 2024.
Fifth Olympic Selection in Sight
Genevieve is a four-time Olympian and former national steeplechase record holder. She reached two finals at Rio 2016 before switching to marathon competition for Paris.
Ryan is a two-time Olympian who became the first Australian man in 40 years to reach the Olympic 1500m final at Rio 2016. He has also moved into marathon running.
Together, the couple have made six Olympic appearances. Selection for Los Angeles 2028 would give Genevieve a fifth Olympic Games.
