Fatal traffic crash, Banana
Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on the Dawson Highway at Banana yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called at 3.10pm after reports that a cattle truck and a sedan collided on the Dawson Highway.
The sole female occupant of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The male driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries and around 70 head of cattle had to be euthanised due to their injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Update: Arson and evade police, Byfield
Police have taken a man into custody following investigations into a number of incidents in Byfield on August 5 and 6.
It will be alleged at approximately 5.45pm on August 5 emergency services were responding to a fire near a camp ground at Waterpark Creek.
They were confronted by a man who allegedly attempted to light further fires and made threats.
A short time later police attempted to intercept a Green Toyota Starlet hatchback in the Byfield area however the vehicle allegedly evaded police.
Police will further allege at approximately 2.00am on August 6 the same man entered a residence on Richters Road in Byfield and threatened another man with what appeared to be a machete.
The man was allegedly assaulted, and his Toyota Hilux Utility stolen.
At 12:40pm today officers took a man into custody on Castle Rock Road in Byfield.
A 51-year-old Byfield man has been charged with three counts of contravening a domestic violence
We need your help – Maryborough / Hervey Bay investigation
Maryborough detectives are appealing for public assistance to help identify and locate the owners of a set of distinctive white drawers (pictured below).
Detectives are hoping to speak to the owners and wish to stress they have not committed any offences but may be able to assist with an ongoing investigation in the Maryborough and Hervey Bay areas.
The drawers are made from wood, well used and worn, white with large pink flowers on the front with numbers written on the top drawer ‘1 2 3 4 5’ – and possibly two other numbers that can’t be made out (possibly ‘6’ and ‘7’). The numbers were possibly drawn by a child with the ‘2’ and ‘3’ written back to front (see image below).
For operational reasons police are unable to provide any further details in relation to this investigation however wish to stress the importance of locating the owners and having them contact Maryborough detectives.
Detectives believe
