Fire investigation, Cobraball

A teenager will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act following the investigation of a fire near Yeppoon.
The fire started around 1.30pm Saturday, November 9, at Cobraball.
Police have spoken with the 16-year-old male and he will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
At this time of heightened danger and following the declaration of a State of Fire Emergency, the community is asked to work with authorities to prevent fires.
Parents and carers are urged to speak to their children about the consequences of lighting fires in this time of heightened danger.

Police make further charge as part of thoroughbred doping investigation

Police from State Crime Command’s Queensland Racing Crime Squad have charged a 25-year-old Toowoomba man as part of an investigation into suspected thoroughbred horse doping.
Yesterday members of QRCS charged the 25-year-old man with aggravated fraud. This further arrest forms part of the ongoing investigation into the administration of unregulated performance enhancing supplements designed to avoid detection in racing officials’ testing system.
Three people have previously been charged on June 25, 2019 as part of the operation.
It is alleged the man was intimately involved in the purchase and administration of the supplements.
He will appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on December 2.

Update: Charges, Torquay assault investigation

Charges will be upgraded by Detectives following the alleged serious assault of a man at Torquay on September 5.
The victim, a 45-year-old Torquay man, was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he died on September 16.
A 32-year-old Torquay man was charged with grievous bodily harm on September 12 and those charges are expected to be upgraded to murder when he appears in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today.

Fatal traffic crash, Goomeri

Police are appealing for witnesses after a single vehicle traffic crash at Booubyjan, North of Goomeri, overnight.
Initial investigations indicate about 9:30pm, a Toyota Landcruiser was travelling north on the Burnett Highway just north of the Old Murgon-Gayndah Road when the vehicle left the road and rolled.
The driver, a 53-year-old Holland Park man, was declared deceased at the scene.
Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision to please contact police.

PSPA declared, Woodgate (Bundaberg)

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act due to a dangerous grass fire burning in Woodgate (Bundaberg).
The exclusion zone is bound by Burrum River west of the Bruce Highway, Bruce Highway north to Goodwood Road, Goodwood Road to Elliot River.
Residents within the exclusion zone are urged to follow the advice of emergency services on the ground and leave the area now.
Woodgate Road between Heidkes Road and Frizzells Road is currently closed in both directions.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

Culmination of series of drug operations, Gold Coast District

Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch (Northern Investigative Group) have culminated a series of proactive operations this week, aimed at enhancing community safety by disrupting the production and supply of dangerous drugs across the Gold Coast District.
Operation Romeo Detect:
‘Operation Romeo Detect’ is aimed at targeting the supply of dangerous drugs and prohibited items through the postal delivery service.
On Sunday November 10, officers used drug detection dogs and x-ray machines to examine a high volume of packages at the Gold Coast’s mail distribution centre at Bundall.
23 packages were detected to be concealing illegal substances such as; prescription medication, performance and image enhancing drugs and cannabis oil, with a collective estimated street value of approximately $10,800.
Investigations into the source of these packages continue.

Operation Albatross, Helensvale

Police have charged two men with serious drug offences as part of ‘Operation Albatross’; a six-month effort targeting criminal activity on the northern Gold Coast.
Around 5.45am yesterday (Tuesday November 12), detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch (Western Investigative Group) executed a search warrant at a home on Latrobe Avenue, Helensvale.
It will be alleged that officers located approximately 100 grams of methylamphetamine, in excess of 750 MDMA tablets, cannabis and ammunition. Detectives also allegedly located chemicals associated with the production of methylamphetamine in clandestine laboratories.
A 41-year-old Upper Coomera man was charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, one count each of possessing a prohibited combination of items (pseudoephedrine, hypo-phosphorus acid and iodine), possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime, possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence, possessing restricted items (laser pointer), possessing explosives (ammunition) and five counts of breach of bail.

Update public appeal: fatal traffic crash, Gladstone

Police are appealing for public assistance as part of the investigation into a serious traffic crash at Targinnie (Gladstone) this afternoon November 12.
At around 5:44pm emergency services were notified of a serious traffic crash on Targinnie Road near the intersection of Wilson Road , Targinnie where four people have been injured.
The white Hyundai station wagon was travelling north along Targinnie Road when it lost control.
An 8-year-old child, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police are also appealing for witnesses and anyone who may have dash-camera footage along Targinnie and Wilson Road prior to the crash, to come forward.

Juvenile arrested for robbery, Pimlico (Townsville)

Police have charged a teenage girl following robbery of a 54-year-old female bus driver today November 12.
Preliminary investigations around 12:40pm identified that as the girl was exiting the bus she has grabbed the cash tin containing an amount of coins.
The female bus driver tried to stop the teenager and during the wrestle with the girl her glasses broke and she also sustained some superficial lacerations to her arm.
The girl fled on foot with an amount of coins.
Within 12 minutes of receiving the ‘000’ call police located the teenager in Haig Street Pimlico.
The juvenile female was arrested and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
