UPDATE: Homicide investigation, Marsden

Detectives have charged a 23-year-old man with murder following the death of a 55-year old man at Marsden last night, November 8.
Just after 8pm, police were called to a residence on Kurilpa Street following an altercation occurred between two men.  A 55-year-old Marsden man sustained life threatening stab wounds and was transported to hospital where he passed away.
A 23-year-old Marsden man has been charged with one count of murder and is due to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday, November 11.

UPDATE: Homicide investigation, Chambers Flat

Detectives have charged a 72-year-old man with murder following the death of a 67-year-old woman at Chambers Flat last night, November 8.
Just before 9pm, police attended at Alexander Court where they located a woman with gun shot wound.
The woman was treated at the residence, however she died at the scene.
The 72-year-old Chambers Flat man has been charged with one count of murder and is due to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday, November 11.
The pair are both from Chambers Flat and are known to each other.

Avoid unnecessary travel in bushfire impacted areas

With a number of fires burning throughout Queensland police are reminding motorists to limit unnecessary travel and keep roads clear for emergency services.

Fires by their very nature are unpredictable and motorists travelling through active bushfire areas could easily find themselves in quickly changing and dangerous situations.
If you live near a active bushfire area please limit all non-essential travel and re-think your need to be on the roads.
Driving conditions can be dangerous due to hazards such as burnt out trees over road ways, fallen power lines, smoke and dust. Please remain vigilant.
Emergency services are working together to return affected residents to their homes however this can only occur when the risk of fire has been mitigated.

Homicide investigation, Marsden

A 55-year-old man has died after he was stabbed at Marsden last night, November 8.
Just after 8pm, police were called to a residence on Kurilpa Street where a man allegedly stabbed the 55-year-old man multiple times following an altercation between the pair.
The man, who was known to him, fled the scene on foot.
Paramedics rendered assistance to the man and transported him to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he later died.
Police arrested a 23-year-old man at a Springwood address a short time later.
A crime scene has been established as investigations into the matter continue.

Homicide investigation, Chambers Flat

Police have commenced a homicide investigation after a woman was shot at Chambers Flat overnight.
Before 9pm, a 72-year-old man allegedly shot a 67-year-old woman prior to calling emergency services for assistance.
Police attended the Alexander Court residence where the man was taken into custody with the assistance of PolAir.
Emergency services rendered first aid to the woman who sadly died as a result of her injuries.
The pair were known to each other.
A crime scene has been established as investigations continue.

PSPA declared, Lower Beechmont

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act due to a dangerous bushfire burning out of control at Lower Beechmont which is currently threatening homes.
The exclusion zone is bound by Nerang Murwillumba Road to the east, Armitage Creek to the west, the intersection of Beechmont Road and Mirani Street to the south and the intersection of Beechmont Road and Nerang Murwillumbah Road to the north.
Residents within the exclusion zone are urged to follow the advice of emergency services on the ground and leave the area now towards Nerang, if it is safe to do so.
An evacuation centre has been set up at Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre at 833 Southport Nerang Road.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

Child exploitation material charges, Rockhampton

Detectives from the Rockhampton Child Protection and Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at an Allenstown’s address on November 2.
Police arrested and charged a man at the home after officers located video files of alleged child exploitation material (CEM).
A 38-year-old Rockhampton man is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on November 11 facing one count each of possession of CEM and distribution of CEM.
The safety of children remains a priority for the Queensland Police Service and in all investigations of this nature police liaise with all relevant stakeholders.

Police charge 18 in large scale cannabis trafficking operation

Yesterday police charged two further people as part of a significant operation targeting the widespread trafficking of cannabis across southeast Queensland.
Operation Quebec Zing was commenced by the Drug and Serious Crime Group in July 2018 and targeted a syndicate involved in the production and trafficking of cannabis via largescale grow houses and sheds across the southeast.
Over the last 15 months and as a result of protracted investigations by the Firearms and Cannabis Team, six active cannabis grow farms were detected in Greenbank, Marsden, Chambers Flat and Forest Lake. Police seized and subsequently destroyed 2716 cannabis plants valued at over $13.5m and restrained $1.2m worth of property during this operation.
Yesterday, police charged a 42-year-old Inala man with one count of trafficking (with a circumstance of aggravation being participation in a criminal organisation) and six counts of commercial production. Police will allege he was the principal of the operation and had involvement

Armed robbery, Mackay

Detectives are investigating after a bottle shop was robbed last night.
Just before 8pm a man entered the Evan Street business and threatened the staff member with a firearm.
The staff member complied, and the man fled with a sum on money.
He is described as about 30 years of age, Caucasian, a large build, wearing an orange hi-vis shirt and grey pants.
The female staff member was not physically injured.
Investigations are continuing.

Drug charges, South Eastern Region

Police have charged 18 people after locating cannabis grow houses and seizing drugs and cash as part of an ongoing operation in the South Eastern Region targeting the production and supply of cannabis.
Over the course of a four-day operation commencing October 29, police from State Crime Command’s State Drug Squad executed 15 search warrants across residential premises throughout the Gold Coast and Logan, seizing 145 cannabis plants and 5.5kg of dried cannabis, with an estimated street value of $400,000.
During Operation Romeo Factor, police located and destroyed an extensive quantity of hydroponic equipment being used in the production of cannabis across ten premises, with a total estimated value of $38,500. Equipment from two clandestine drug laboratories was also found.
Police also seized $10,475 in cash and small quantities of MDMA tablets and methylamphetamine.
