Fatal traffic crash, Bald Hills

Police are appealing for witnesses after a single vehicle traffic crash at Bald Hills on October 28.
Approximately 10.00pm, a grey Holden sedan was travelling in a southbound direction on the Bruce Highway when the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the vehicle hitting the guardrail and flipping onto its side and coming to a stop against the guardrail in the middle of the highway.
The driver, a 32-year-old Kallangur man was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition.
Sadly, the driver has passed away from his injuries in hospital on November 1.
Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vison to please contact police.

Teens charged following alleged ram raid at Springfield Central shopping centre

Ipswich detectives have charged two teenagers following investigations into an alleged ram raid at a Springfield Central shopping centre in the early hours of Sunday morning, November 3.
Police will allege a vehicle stolen from a Norfolk Street, Springfield Lake home in the evening of November 2 was driven into the roller doors of the Main Street shopping centre shortly before 1am Sunday.
Police will allege the vehicle, containing three males, crashed through the doors and came to rest inside the centre. The offenders then smashed their way inside a jewellery store using crowbars before smashing display cabinets and stealing jewellery.
Hearing the commotion, a 39-year-old female cleaner attended the scene and was allegedly confronted by one of the males who was holding a knife.
Three male contractors working nearby came to the woman’s assistance.
A brief struggle ensued between the three male offenders as the contractors tried to prevent them leaving in the stolen

Fatal traffic crash, Childers

Police are investigating a single vehicle traffic crash about 15km west of Childers at Kullogum last night.
Preliminary inquiries indicate about 9.30pm a Ford Falcon was travelling west on the Isis Highway when the vehicle has hit a horse on the road before hitting a tree.
The driver, a 73-year-old Gatton man who was the only occupant of the car, died at the scene.
The horse also died.
Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Protest arrests, Surfers Paradise

Police have arrested two men following an incident at a planned protest at Surfers Paradise this afternoon.
Around 4.40pm, members of the Kurdish community were walking south along the Esplanade in an authorised demonstration when a man approached the group of about 50 demonstrators and assaulted one of them.
Police arrested the man without incident. Minutes later another man approached the group and a physical altercation ensued.
Multiple people were capsicum sprayed.
The planned demonstration was allowed to continue with police facilitating demonstrators through the Surfers Paradise CBD.
A 27-year-old man from New South Wales and a 39-year-old man from Teneriffe were charged with public nuisance.

Wounding / armed robbery investigation, Morayfield

Moreton detectives are investigating after a man was injured during a robbery at Morayfield this morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate that shortly after 6am the 55-year-old local man was at the Morayfield shopping centre to conduct patrols when an unknown man approached his vehicle, which was parked in the carpark off Leda Boulevard.
The man opened the front passenger door and demanded the victim’s wallet. Following a brief struggle, the 55-year-old was stabbed once in the neck.
The offender fled on foot with the wallet.
The victim called emergency services and was transported to hospital with a non-life-threatening wound.
A crime scene has been declared with police appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam vision to contact them (details below).
Anyone who witnessed the incident or noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time is asked to contact police (details below).

Do you really know your online friends? #DoIKnowU

Today, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC) launched their #DoIKnowU campaign to educate young people, parents, carers and educators about the behaviours which prevent, recognise and respond to online grooming.
The campaign demonstrates the tactics predators use to trap young people into sharing sexual images of themselves.
The information is based on real life transcripts provided by Argos and the campaign was created in collaboration with young people.

Children can stay safe online by:

knowing someone in real life before accepting their friend request online
limiting how much personal information they share online
telling someone to slow down or block and delete a person if they feel uncomfortable
know it is illegal to create, send, or have sexual images of someone (including yourself) who looks under the age of 18

Wounding investigation, Calamvale

Acacia Ridge detectives are investigating after a man received a gunshot wound at a Calamvale residence last night (Saturday, November 2).
Preliminary investigations suggest that at around 8.05pm the man was alone in an Eduard Place home when he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.
The man contacted a friend who then notified emergency services who transported the 37-year-old Calamvale man to hospital with a non-life -threatening wound.
A crime scene was declared at the residence with police door-knocking the local area.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have noticed anyone loitering or acting suspiciously, or anyone with relevant dashcam or home CCTV to contact them (details below).

Armed burglary, Springfield Central

Police are investigating a burglary at jewellery shop in a shopping centre on Main Street last night.
Around 12.50am, three people allegedly drove a stolen Mazda 121 through a locked roller door and gained entry to the mall area of the shopping centre.
They then drove the vehicle into the front window of a jewellery shop.
All three people allegedly entered the store and smashed multiple glass display cabinets with hammers.
A woman working in the shopping centre confronted the alleged burglars in the jewellery shop. One of the alleged burglars was armed and threatened the woman with a knife.
Other workers came to her aid. The armed person then pointed the knife at the group.
Two of the people in the jewellery shop fled.
One of the workers attempted to remove the keys from the stolen Mazda and was wounded by the armed person.

Serious assault charges, Logan Central

A man has been charged following an incident at a petrol station on Wembley Road, Logan Central this evening.
It will be alleged, around 11.50pm while police were arresting a man in relation to public nuisance, a physical struggle ensued, and the man resisted arrest. During the struggle, a police officer sustained a fracture to her left ankle.
The officer was transported to the PA Hospital for treatment.
The man was charged with committing public nuisance, obstructing a police officer, serious assault of a police officer and possession of a knife. He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow, November 4.
