Fatal traffic crash, Cloncurry

Police are appealing for witnesses after a single vehicle traffic crash at Cloncurry overnight.
Approximately 8.30pm, a Toyota Hilux utility was travelling in a northerly direction along Cloncurry Duchess Road, just south of Malbon Selwyn Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the vehicle fish tailing and flipping.
The driver, a 20-year-old Burpengary man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The passenger, a 28-year-old Mount Isa man was transported by helicopter to the Mount Isa Base Hospital, with minor injuries.
Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision to please contact police.

Robbery, Redcliffe

Investigators are seeking public assistance following a robbery at Redcliffe yesterday, October 31.
Just after 5:30pm, an 11-year-old boy was approached by a young male at a recreation facility on Oxley Avenue.
The young male demanded the boy’s watch and forcibly removed it from the boy’s wrist. He also threatened the boy during the altercation.
The young male then left the scene on foot towards Anzac Avenue.
The young male is described as approximately 170cm tall, of a large build and was wearing a bandanna across his face at the time of the incident.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or can identify the person involved, to come forward.

Revocation of stand down, State Crime Command

A Senior Constable from State Crime Command who was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service will now return to operational duties.
The officer was stood down in January 2019 in relation to matters involving being affected by alcohol in the workplace. These matters have now been finalised.
In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.

Drug lab, Grandchester

Police have charged three people after executing a search warrant at a property in Grandchester yesterday.
Around 10.30am, Gatton CIB, Laidley officers and Toowoomba Tactical Crime Squad executed a search warrant and allegedly located a clandestine laboratory on the property which included 527 boxes of pseudoephedrine tablets.
Police further allege stolen motorbikes, a stolen caravan and a large quantity of suspected stolen property were located on the property, believed to be linked to several break and enter offences.
The search resulted in locating 26 grams of cannabis, 10 grams of amphetamine, 16 grams of heroin, 1.5 grams of cocaine.
A 35-year-old woman from Rosewood, a 56-year-old woman from Laidley and a 50-year-old man from Grandchester were charged with a total of 39 charges.
Investigations are ongoing.

Armed robbery of taxi driver – Currumbin

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a 57-year-old taxi driver by two masked men armed with steak style knives at Currumbin last night.
Around 6.50pm the taxi driver picked up the men from a park at Coolangatta Road at Tugun and drove them to Currumbin. The men asked the driver to stop at the front of a house at Mainsail Place at Currumbin at which time both men produced knives and made demands for money.
The men obtained money before fleeing the taxi.
The driver was no physically injured during the incident.
Police investigations are ongoing.

Update: Death investigation, White Rock

Detectives from Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a woman over the death of an 13-month-old baby boy at White Rock on September 24, 2018.
A 21-year-old Manoora woman was arrested in Townsville today.
She was transported to the Townsville watch house where she was charged with one count each of; manslaughter, torture, trafficking in dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of utensil for use with a dangerous drug, and indecent treatment of a child under 12
She is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrate Court later today (November 1).

Police are investigating the death of an infant at White Rock yesterday.
Around 9am, police and paramedics attended a home to find a one-year-old boy unresponsive.
He was transported to the Cairns Base Hospital but was sadly pronounced deceased upon arrival.

A 26-year-old Carrara man has been charged after a 33-year-old Labrador man sustained serious head injuries in a park at Surfers Paradise in the early hours of this morning.
Around 1.30am it is alleged the man was leaving a toilet block at a park on Ferny Avenue when he was involved in a verbal argument with a group of men. The confrontation escalated, and the man was allegedly punched and kicked to the head when he was on the ground.
The man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious head injuries.
Police located three men, aged 19, 21 and 26 in Orchid Avenue at Surfers Paradise a short time later.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to face Southport Magistrates Court this afternoon.
Police investigations are ongoing.

Fatal traffic crash, Marlborough

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal a single vehicle traffic crash at Marlborough today (October 31).
Initial investigations indicate a Holden utility lost control as it travelled along Marlborough Road and crashed into a tree around 11.25am.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man from Yeppoon, suffered significant injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle on Marlborough Road prior to or after the crash to come forward.
Any witnesses who may have stopped and left the scene prior to police or emergency services arriving, are also asked to contact police.

Extortion and assault charges, New Farm

Police have today charged a man and a woman after another man was allegedly held against his will at New Farm on Wednesday, October 30.
Just after midnight, a 33-year-old man attended a residence after meeting a 49-year-old woman on a dating application.
A short time later, the woman allegedly demanded money from the man.
When the man didn’t comply, another man allegedly entered the room and assaulted the 33-year-old man and held him against his will.
The woman also allegedly assaulted the man before the pair forced the man to undertake an online transaction.
The pair then allegedly stole his bank card and withdrew a sum of money.
A 49-year-old woman and 22-year-old man have been charged with one count each of extortion with intent to gain benefit with threat of detriment, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and possessing dangerous drugs.
They will both appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, November 1.
