Assault, Mooloolaba

Police are appealing for community assistance to help identify two men investigators wish to speak to in relation to an assault of a 28-year-old man in Mooloolaba on June 17.
Just after 5:30pm, a man was walking along Venning Street, when he was punched and knocked unconscious by a man who was not known to him.
The man then stood over the victim and yelled at him before fleeing the scene along Venning Street through a shopping centre car park.
The victim received facial injuries as a result of the assault and was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Police believe the two men pictured can assist in their investigation and would like to speak to anyone who may recognise the men.

Viva Surfers Paradise 2019

Gold Coast police would like to remind motorists of upcoming road closures due to the Viva Surfers Paradise – a tribute-artist festival.
During the festival there will be music tributes from the 50s to the 70s, a street parade and classic car shows conducted on Surfers Paradise foreshore and beach over the weekend of July 12 and July 13 and again on July 20 and July 21, 2019.
The event attracts approximately 10,000 spectators each night, with the ultimate Elvis tribute contest being held again this year.
It is non-ticketed, alcohol free, family focused event.
Road closures will be in place at the following locations:
• The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise between the Soul building roundabout and Hanlan Street, Surfers Paradise between 9am and 5pm both days of each weekend;
• The Esplanade, Orchid Ave and Elkhorn Avenue, Surfers Paradise, for the Viva street parade from 5pm to 6pm on Saturday July 13, 2019;

Armed robbery Mermaid Beach

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a tavern at Mermaid Beach in the early hours of this morning.
Around 12.45am a man armed with a machete and wearing a balcalava entered the premises through a rear entrance, approached a 37-year-old female staff member and demanded money.
The staff member went to a till to handover money when a 29-year-old male patron of the tavern snuck up behind the offender and struck him to the head with a large stool.
The offender stumbled backwards and struck out with the machete. The man continued to make demands for money at which time the female staff member handed over a sum of money.
The man grabbed the money while the male patron continued to struggle with him. The man dropped the machete and ran out the back entrance with the money.

Potential disruptions – Brisbane CBD on Friday, July 5

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) continues to undertake planning with a variety of stakeholders regarding on-going planned protest activity by groups and individuals regarding proposed mining activity in central Queensland.
The QPS supports lawful and peaceful protest and is committed to working with groups to plan and facilitate lawful activities.
Information has been received that another protest may occur tomorrow (Friday, July 5) within the Brisbane Central Business District resulting in disruptions from 5pm.
Members of the public are being asked to consider their transport options and travel plans.
The QPS and partner agencies are working closely to manage the protest and minimise as much as possible disruptions to transportation networks.

Update 1 – Homicide investigation, Plainland

Detectives investigating the death of 53-year-old Oakey man Paul Rock who died following a disturbance in the carpark of a Plainland’s hotel on Monday evening (July 1) have released the names and images of two men who may able to assist with their investigation.
Beau Smith, 26 (greenish and black shirts) is Caucasian, 180cm tall, with a proportional build, brown hair and blue eyes.
Kye Enright, 21 (black shirt) is Caucasian, 165cm tall, slim build, brown hair and blue eyes.
The two men are believed to have left the scene in a black sedan with the car last seen travelling on the Ipswich Motorway at Goodna shortly before 6.30pm that night.
Police are urging anyone who sights the men or has any information regarding their current whereabouts to not approach them and to immediately call Triple Zero (000).

Update 3: Sunnybank shooting

Police have charged a second person with accessory after the fact as part of the investigation into the shooting of a man and woman at Sunnybank on Saturday, June 22.
On July 3, police charged a 41-year-old man from Pallara with two counts of being an accessory after the fact to attempted murder. He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 8.
On June 23, a 24-year-old Doolandella man was charged with multiple offences including two counts of being an accessory after the fact to attempted murder. He appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 24 and was remanded in custody to next appear in court on July 22.
Police investigating the shooting are still appealing for public assistance to help locate Brendyn Clark, a 38-year-old Sunnybank Hills man, who may be able to assist with the investigation.

Robbery incidents, Surfers Paradise

Police are searching for two people following two robbery type incidents in Surfers Paradise earlier this morning.
Around 7.25am two women, aged in their 40s, were walking along Gold Coast Highway near Markwell Street when a young woman got out of a dark grey Kia Cerato hatchback and attempted to steal their handbags.
An occupant from a passing vehicle stopped to intervene and after a struggle, the young woman left in the car empty handed.
A short time later around 7.30am a woman walking along Thomas Drive had her handbag stolen by a woman in the same Kia Cerato vehicle being driven by a young man.
The woman sustained scrapes on her knees as a result of the incident.
Police are trying to locate the stolen dark grey 2016 Kia Cerato hatch with Queensland registration 652 XFC.

Update – Wounding, Labrador

Police have charged a man over an incident where another man sustained a stab wound to his back at a unit complex at Labrador late last month.
Officers were called to the Marine Parade address around 6.30pm on June 29 where it is alleged an altercation had occurred between two men known to each other.
A 28-year-old Labrador man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
A 21-year-old Labrador man has been charged with wounding and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is due to face the Southport Magistrates Court today.

Fraud, robbery charges – Sunshine Coast

A Sunshine Coast woman has been charged after she allegedly took advantage of two elderly victims.
On June 27, the 42-year-old woman allegedly attended a retirement village on Magnetic Drive, Buderim where she attempted to convince a 94-year-old woman the pair knew each other.
It will further be alleged when the elderly woman denied knowing her, the 42-year-old accused her of kidnapping her child before taking her phone and wallet and then throwing her phone on the floor.
It will be alleged the woman later used the elderly woman’s bank cards to make a number of transactions.
On June 13, it will be alleged the woman attended a retirement village in Maroochydore when she coerced a 91-year-old woman into her car and then drove her to an ATM to withdraw money for her.
It will further be alleged at 5.30pm she dropped the elderly woman back near her home however she became disoriented and lost.

Burglary, Regents Park

Police have released vision of two men who crashed a stolen vehicle into a shopping complex before trying to steal an ATM at Regents Park overnight.
Around 3.40am, a man reversed a stolen red 2012 Nissan Navara utility through the closed glass entrance doors on the eastern side of a shopping centre on the Mount Lindesay Highway.
He and another man then exited the vehicle and connected a strap to a free-standing ATM inside the building, before accelerating forward in an attempt to dislodge the machine.
The strap broke prompting the offenders to reverse the vehicle into the machine, causing it to topple over. The men then attached the strap to the machine again and attempted to tow the machine from the premises but were unable to, leaving the ATM on the ground and fleeing in an unknown direction.
Minutes later, the abandoned vehicle was located burnt-out on Bayliss Road at Heritage Park.
