Cairns police investigating the death of a man at Manunda this morning are treating the death as suspicious.
Officers were called to a Hunt Street residence around 4am where they located a man, who had significant injuries, lying on the roadway.
Police commenced CPR and continued until the arrival of ambulance officers.
The man, aged in his early 20s, was declared deceased at the scene.
A crime scene has been declared with detectives, uniformed officers, Scenes of Crime and Scientific Officers currently in Hunt Street.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist with investigations to contact police (details below).

Closure of drug operation, St George
Police continue to crack down on the supply and possession of Ice within the St George community with a further 12 people arrested as part of the closure of a significant ongoing drug operation.
Papa Acclaim concluded yesterday with five search warrants executed on local residences and 12 people apprehended on a total of 44 charges.
Police will allege a St George man, who was charged with 28 offences, tried to assume the role of an Ice dealer for the town in the aftermath of the closure of Operation Oscar Kohl, where nine residents were charged with trafficking in Ice.
During the raids police seized quantities of Ice, cannabis and drug utensils.
Detective Acting Superintendent Paul Hart said the success of Papa Accalim was largely due to information provided by the community.
“Local residents continue to show outstanding resilience and determination to keep their town drug-free,” Detective Acting Superintendent Hart said.

Attempted armed robbery, North Rockhampton
A man has been taken into custody following an alleged attempted armed robbery that occurred this morning at a service station in North Rockhampton.
Police were called to a service station on Dean Street shortly before 6am following reports that a man entered the service station allegedly armed with a knife.
It will be further alleged that he made demands for cash, and when the attendant did not comply, he fled the scene on foot.
Responding officers then observed a man at an address on Waterloo Street and when they have approached him, it will be alleged he armed himself with a shovel before threatening officers and swinging it at police, striking one officer.
Officers deployed a taser and the man was taken into custody without any further incident.
He has been transported to the Rockhampton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
No one else was injured as a result of the robbery.
Investigations are continuing.

Armed robbery, Ellen Grove
Detectives are investigating the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver in Ellen Grove this evening.
At about 7.30pm, a 28-year-old man attempted to deliver food from a store in Forest Lake to an address on Julie Road when he was approached by three men.
The men, one of whom was possibly armed with a knife, threatened the driver before stealing his phone and a sum of cash before fleeing the scene on foot.
The 28-year-old man was not physically injured during the incident.
Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time is urged to contact police.

Dangerous driving, dangerous conduct with a weapon charges – Marsden and Logan
Four people have been charged following a disturbance at Marsden yesterday afternoon.
At around 5.15pm, police responded to reports of a disturbance on Lynelle Street where it is alleged gunshots had been fired at a residence.
Three men and a woman were then seen to leave the address in a vehicle.
This vehicle was sighted by police on Chambers Flat Road and then tracked by Polair, however it allegedly continued driving in a dangerous manner.
A tyre deflation device was deployed before the vehicle entered the undercover car park of a shopping centre, Browns Plains, where the occupants allegedly abandoned the vehicle and then left in a second vehicle.
This vehicle was tracked by Polair as it allegedly drove dangerously from the shopping centre before a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed in Kingston.
The vehicle continued driving until it finally came to a stop after crashing into a ditch at Slacks Creek.

Hit and run appeal, Elanora
Police are investigating after a 21-year-old Burleigh Heads man was hit by a car at Elanora this morning.
Around 6.30am, the man was struck by the car whilst he was walking across Guineas Creek Road.
A white Subaru liberty sedan, possibly 2000 model with Queensland registration 581XUP, failed to remain at the scene.
Police believe the Subaru was been driven by a 22-year-old Caucasian man and sustained damage to the front of the car, including a smashed windscreen.
If anyone was in the area at the time and has dash cam vision they are encouraged to contact police.
Anyone who knows the current whereabouts of the sedan is asked to contact police.
If you see the vehicle investigators request you do not approach it.
The man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital and is being treated for a fractured leg and an injured shoulder.

Robbery with violence, Hillcrest
Police are investigating an incident of robbery with violence against a pizza delivery driver in Hillcrest overnight.
At about 12.30am, two men approached a 17-year-old old female delivery driver as she attempted to deliver food from a Browns Plains store to a Pine Street address.
The men, one armed with a piece of wood and the other a pocket knife, stole the food from the girl along with the money float.
Both men then left the scene on foot.
Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time is urged to contact police.
The girl was not physically harmed during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver in Ellen Grove last night.
At about 8.15pm, a 28-year-old man attempted to deliver food from a Garden’s Road, Richlands store to an address on Waterford Road, however the residents of the address advised they had not placed an order.
As the driver left the address, he was flagged down by two men who approached him with a baseball bat, and demanded money.
One of the men reached into the driver’s pocket and removed cash while the second man took his wallet and the food from inside his vehicle.
Both men then left the scene on foot. Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time is urged to contact police.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.

Appeal for dash-cam footage, North Lakes
Detectives investigating the alleged abduction of a 7-year-old girl at North Lakes on Saturday December 8 are appealing for relevant dash-cam footage.
Police are requesting dash-cam footage from between 8am and 4pm from the listed areas and in particular any footage of a 2007 white Mitsubishi Lancer.
The areas of interest include North Lakes Boulevard, Anzac Avenue, Plantation Drive, Bergin Street, Prospect Street, Old Gympie Road, Dakabin, Bruce Highway (both north and south directions) between Deception Bay Road exit and Pumicestone Road exit and Pumicestone Road, Elimbah.
Any members of the public who believe they have relevant dash-cam footage or information that may be able to assist investigators are urged to contact police.

46 First Year Constables inducted in Townsville ceremony
Minister for Police, the Honourable Mark Ryan MP, the Member for Thuringowa Aaron Harper and the Member for Townsville Scott Stewart, joined Commissioner Ian Stewart to welcome 46 new police officers to the Queensland Police Service (QPS) in a graduation ceremony held at the Townsville Stadium yesterday.
Graduating as First Year Constables (FYC), the new officers have completed 25 weeks of intensive training.
The recruit training program aims to provide recruits with a quality foundation, so they can deliver an excellent service to the community and ensure their policing skills have developed to a level necessary for operational policing, under supervision.
Minister Ryan said police perform a vital role in the maintenance of law and order, and public safety.
“On behalf of the communities and the Government of Queensland, I am grateful for the 46 First Year Constables who have accepted their responsibilities today,” Minister Ryan said.
