Closure of drug operation, Toowoomba

Toowoomba detective last week closed a drug operation that commenced in July and focused on the supply and distribution of illicit drugs in the local area.
Operation Quebec Midway resulted in 72 people charged with 670 primarily drug related offences, with police allegedly locating amphetamines, cash ($96,000) and 13 illegal firearms.
Three Toowoomba men, aged 29, 42 and 46 were each charged respectively with 73, 70 and 87 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.
Police will also allege they located over $40,000 cash at an address used by the 29-year-old man.
Two of the men are due in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court in November- the 42-year-old on the 12th and the 46-year-old on the 16th.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker, OIC of Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch said although Operation Quebec Midway had closed police continue to receive information in relation to the supply of dangerous drugs, and these are actively being investigated.

Update: Suspicious death, Mapoon

A man has been charged following investigations into the suspicious death of a woman in Mapoon, north of Arukun on Friday night.
Police were called to a Ndruili Street residence around 11pm where they located the 22-year-old woman deceased.
A 38-year-old Mapoon man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Weipa Magistrates Court tomorrow (October 15).
The man and woman were known to each other.
Investigations are continuing.

Armed robbery, Durack

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Durack this evening.
At about 8.30pm, a man armed with a knife entered a petrol station on Inala Avenue and demanded cash from a staff member.
The man fled the scene a short time later with a quantity of cash north along Blunder Road.
No one was injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Fatal traffic crash, Caboolture

A 72-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle traffic crash at Caboolture today.
Early information suggests, shortly after 2.30 pm the white BMW sedan was travelling North on Beerburrum Road at the intersection with Tuckeroo Street when the driver attempted to perform a U-turn.
A white Ford Ranger ute, also travelling North on Beerburrum Road, has collided with the BMW as it completed the turn.
The driver and sole occupant from the BMW was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the Ford was treated for minor injuries.
Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Armed robbery, Logan Central

Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Logan Central this morning.
At around 8.15am a woman parked her vehicle in the carpark of a fast food restaurant at the intersection of Wembley Road and Leichardt Street when a man entered her vehicle.
The man produced a knife and demanded the woman’s handbag before taking her purse and fleeing the scene on foot.
He was last seen walking west along Leichardt Street.
No one was physically injured during the robbery.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, is approximately 183cm tall, of a slim build with short grey hair and green or blue eyes.
Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with investigations. Anyone with any information is urged to contact police.

Armed robbery, Nerang

Police are investigating after a convenience store was robbed by two men armed with a machete in Nerang this morning.
At around 4.30am the men entered the shop on Price Street, one of them standing at the door while the other approached a 21-year-old male store attendant, produced a machete and demanded money.
The attendant went behind the counter while the man brought a large black bag for him to put cash and cigarettes into.
The two men then fled the scene with the bag containing money and cigarettes.
The men are described as aged between 17 and 25-years-old, one of them wearing a camouflage hooded jumper, black knee-length shorts, black and white sneakers and was holding an umbrella.
The second man was wearing a light grey hooded jumper with “Everlast” written in large black letters down the right hand side, black shorts and was carrying a machete.

Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle, Joyner

Police have charged five boys after an alleged dangerous driving incident at Joyner early this morning.
At about 2.10am, police attempted to intercept a vehicle on Gordons Crossing Road West.
It is alleged the vehicle rammed a police car and came to a stop.
It is further alleged when a police officer attempted to approach the vehicle on foot, the vehicle accelerated towards the officer.
Using the police vehicle, officers successfully prevented the vehicle from leaving the scene.
Police arrested the five male occupants in the vehicle.
A 16-year-old Joyner boy, a 16-year-old Warner boy, a 17-year-old Wilston boy and a 17-year-old Ferny Grove boy have each been charged with possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a drug utensil.
A 17-year-old Brendale boy is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a drug utensil.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Robbery charges, Redbank Plains

Police have charged a man and a boy following an alleged armed robbery at Redbank Plains yesterday evening.
It is alleged at about 7.40pm, a man and a boy entered a service station on Redbank Plains Road and demanded cash from a staff member.
It is further alleged the staff member observed the two males to be in possession of a firearm.
It is alleged the man and the boy left the business a short time later in a vehicle with a quantity of cash.
At about 8.10pm, police located and arrested a man and a boy in relation to this matter.
A 17-year-old Redbank Plains boy and a 21-year-old Corinda man are charged with one count each of armed robbery.
The man will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 15.

Suspicious building fire, Beenleigh

Police are investigating a suspicious building fire that occurred at Beenleigh yesterday evening.
At about 8.40pm, police responded to a shed fire at an address in York Street.
The shed suffered significant structural damage as a result of the blaze and was unoccupied at the time.
No one was injured as a result of the fire.
Investigations are continuing.
