Police have charged two people after a routine traffic stop in Rathdowney led to police seizing more than $800,000 worth of cannabis.
Around 8am yesterday police conducting routine border checks on the Mount Lindesay Highway intercepted a Toyota Hilux utility re-entering Queensland.
A search of the vehicle took place where police uncovered approximately 4.47 kilograms of cannabis stuffed in two pillowcases on the back seat of the vehicle. The pillowcases contained nine individual heat-sealed bags.
The driver, a 21-year-old Arundel man, was arrested and charged with one count of drug possession and one count of drug trafficking. The man was also issued a $1,334 infringement notice for breaching the Chief Health Officer’s direction.
A 16-year-old boy was also charged with one count of drug possession and one count of drug trafficking.

Hendra police’s catchy tune to beat COVID-19

Armed robbery, Park Ridge
Police are investigating the armed robbery of a service station at Park Ridge overnight.
Around 7.50pm two males and a female have attended the Chambers Flat Road service station. One of the males and the female stayed in the doorway while the other man entered the service station armed with a knife.
The armed man demanded money from the 23-year-old male store employee who handed over an amount of cash.
All three men then fled the scene
No one was physically injured during the incident.
Investigations are ongoing.

Serious traffic crash, Coopers Plains
Police are appealing for witnesses after a car crashed at Coopers Plains this afternoon.
At 5:50pm, a blue Nissan 200SX was travelling in a westerly direction on Boundary Road, when the driver lost control, resulting in the Nissan colliding with a power pole.
The driver, a 37-year-old Rochedale South man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision to please contact police.
Serious traffic crash, Caboolture
Police are investigating a serious crash at Caboolture this afternoon and are appealing for public assistance.
At 2.15pm, a motorcycle and white Ford Ranger utility collided while travelling north on Beerburrum Road near Caboolture Show Grounds.
The 35-year-old male rider from Caboolture was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
The 40-year-old male driver from Petrie and his 28-year-old male passenger from Warner were not physically injured in the crash.
Forensic Crash Unit officers are asking anyone who may witnessed the crash, or who may have dash cam footage to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.

Update 2: Appeal – Armed robbery, Gympie
Police have charged a woman following ongoing investigations into an armed robbery in Gympie last Sunday.
Just before midnight on April 26, a man allegedly produced a firearm attempted to steal a vehicle on Everson Road.
The male occupants refused to hand over the keys, so the man allegedly took a number of items from the car belonging to them.
It is further alleged that a woman known to the man then attended the scene in a vehicle and collected him.
On May 2 detectives attended a commercial property on Boat Harbour Drive, Hervey Bay, where they located the man and took him into custody without incident.
The 35-year-old Gympie man was charged with two counts each of armed robbery and serious assault on a police officer, and one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession dangerous drugs, possession drug utensils, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, enter premises and commit indictable offence
Police officer stood down, Brisbane Region
A 43-year-old constable from Brisbane Region has been stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service and has been tasked to perform non-operational duties.
The officer has been issued with a Notice to Appear for stealing whilst off duty.

Wounding – Surfers Paradise
Police are investigating after a man sustained non-life threatening stab wounds to his leg at Surfers Paradise yesterday afternoon.
Around 5.50pm a scuffle broke out between three men at Cavill Avenue where punches were thrown. During the incident a 41-year-old man sustained two puncture wounds to his upper right leg.
The man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police investigations are continuing.

Fines issued at Gold Coast house parties
Police have shutdown a number of house parties on the Gold Coast over the weekend including a birthday party at Carrara where revellers were issued infringements two nights in a row.
Officers were initially called to Fitzwilliam Street at Carrara around 11.30pm on May 1 following a noise complaint.
When officers arrived, they located a group of people aged in their early 20s having a birthday party for one of the residents at the address.
The group allegedly admitted to officers they were aware of the Chief Health Officer’s (CHO) directives and had still rented the home for the purpose of staging celebrations.
Seven males aged between 21 and 25 were issued with infringement notices of $1,334 and a noise abatement direction was issued.
Disappointingly, police were again called to the residence the following night in response to a noise complaint.
Officers located another large group of revellers, including five people who had been fined
Serious traffic incident, Wondai
Police are investigating a serious traffic incident that occurred at Wondai yesterday (May 2).
At 7.15pm, emergency services were called to Haly Street following reports a man had fallen from a moving car.
Initial information suggests the man had stepped up onto the vehicle side step and was holding onto the side of the slow-moving utility before falling and hitting his head.
The 60-year-old man was treated for injuries at the scene before being flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital in a critical condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
