Armed robbery, Corinda

A man and woman have been charged following the alleged theft of a vehicle at gunpoint in Corinda this afternoon.
It will be alleged at around 3.30pm unknown people broke into a home on Clewley Street after arriving in a stolen car.
The offenders then took a set of keys from inside the residence belonging to a Toyota Prado parked in the garage.
A male neighbour approached the home after recognising the disturbance and was confronted by a man and woman outside. The man produced a firearm and allegedly threatened the neighbour before the pair fled in the Prado with the other stolen vehicle following behind.
It is further alleged that at around 4:30pm police attempted to intercept the stolen Toyota Prado in Kallangur, however it failed to stop.
A short time later the vehicle was reported to be driving through the underground car park of a shopping centre at North Lakes, crashing into trolleys

Fatal motorcycle crash, Mount Nebo

Police are investigating after a man died in a motorcycle crash at Mount Nebo today.
Preliminary investigations indicate the rider was travelling along Mount Nebo Road around 11:30am when he lost control near Jolly’s Lookout.
The rider and his bike then fell down a steep embankment.
The 61-year-old Closeburn man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact police.

Update 4: Homicide, Redcliffe

Detectives investigating the murder of a 15-year-old boy in Redcliffe on March 13 have eliminated a young man, shown in CCTV vision today, from their enquiries.
The male in the vision has been in contact with police and is no longer a person of interest in the investigation.
Police would like to thank the community for their assistance.

Update 2: Taxi driver assaulted, Sarina

A 15-year-old boy has been charged following investigations into the alleged attempted robbery and assault of a taxi driver in Sarina earlier this month.
The 62-year-old male driver was located with a serious chest injury in his crashed taxi on Brewers Road on the afternoon of March 6.
He was transported in a critical condition to Mackay Base Hospital where he is now recovering.
Sarina detectives today charged a 15-year-old boy with attempted robbery with actual violence and charges from previous offences including enter premises and commit an indictable offence and enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence.
The 15-year-old boy will appear in Mackay Childrens Court.

Static RBT Statement

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has suspended static (multi-vehicle) roadside breath and drug tests to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
This approach will take immediate effect and remain in place until further notice.
The decision has been made to minimise health risks to QPS officers and the community.
Road safety continues to be a significant priority for the QPS. The QPS will continue to undertake random breath and drug testing through high visibility mobile patrols.
The QPS is constantly conducting risk assessments and considering health advice to ensure officer and community safety as the COVID-19 situation unfolds.

Appeal for public assistance, death investigation, Amamoor

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man they wish to speak with following the shooting death of a 22-year-old man last week.
Michael Zanco (pictured below right) sustained a gunshot wound to his head at a Frayne Road property in Amamoor on Thursday evening.
Sadly he passed away as a result of his injuries on Friday night and a crime scene was established.
Detectives have identified a person of interest.
The man is 32-year-old Nathan Paul Caulfield who is described as Caucasian, around 180cms tall who was last wearing a dark shirt and long tracksuit pants.
Detectives believe he may be armed and was last seen travelling in a silver Ford Falcon utility with the registration 268ZOW.
The vehicle was last seen in the Monkland area this morning.

Significant cannabis seizure, Sunshine Coast and South Burnett

Police have charged 36 people with drug offences and seized hundreds of cannabis plants and a large quantity of hydroponic equipment as part of an ongoing operation targeting the production, distribution and trafficking of cannabis on the Sunshine Coast hinterland and South Burnett regions.
Police executed 35 search warrants across the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Fraser Coast and South Burnett over a three-day period commencing March 10 as part of joint operation Oaky involving 25 officers from the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Burnett tactical crime squads and detectives from the State Crime Command’s Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural).
During the search, police seized 307 cannabis plants, including some up to 2.5 metres tall, 8.6 kilograms of cannabis and 12 hydroponic systems.
Investigators also seized four firearms, two crossbows, a large quantity of ammunition along with a quantity of cocaine and unprescribed regulated drugs.

Evade police charges, Innisfail

Four people have been charged following an alleged dangerous driving incident across the Cassowary Coast yesterday.
Around 12pm, Innisfail Road Policing Unit detected two stolen vehicles travelling in convoy around just north of Innisfail.
A tyre deflation device disabled one vehicle in Tully, at which point the occupants fled to the other vehicle.
Around 2pm it will be alleged they stole a Nissan X-TRAIL from a White Street, Cardwell address.
They travelled back towards Innisfail, where the cars separated and three people were arrested after they left the vehicle and tried to swim across the river.
The other vehicle was stopped in Deeral with the use of the Rescue 510 helicopter and the dog squad.

OMCG arrest, Gold Coast

Police have charged a 30-year-old man and member of the Finks OMCG with drug offences.
Police from the Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad, Organised Crime Gangs Group, and Logan Tactical Crime Squad executed a search warrant yesterday on a Yarrabilba residence. As a result of the search police located a crystal substance and a bottle containing clear liquid, both believed to be drugs, along with tablets, mobile phones and drug related equipment.
The 30 year-old, allegedly the current President of the Finks OMCG Gold Coast chapter, was charged with three counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs and possessing thing used in the commission of crime.
He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Serious assault, East Mackay

Detectives are seeking public assistance to help identify a man who may be able to assist police after a 52-year-old man was assaulted in East Mackay on Saturday morning.
Around 6am the man was at his Kippen Street house when he heard a loud bang from the front of his residence.
He went outside and saw a man at the open driver’s door of the resident’s Toyota Hilux which was parked on the road.
An altercation has occurred, and the 52-year-old man was struck by what is believed to be a steel bar to the right side of his head.
The man then fled the scene.
The 52-year-old man remains in Mackay Base Hospital with serious head injuries.
Detectives have released vision of a man walking on Kippen Street and anyone who recognises the man or has further information is urged to contact police.
