Update: Fatal hit and run, Beaconsfield

A woman is assisting police with their inquiries in relation to a fatal traffic incident at Beaconsfield in the Mackay area this morning.
A 15-year-old Beaconsfield girl was struck by a vehicle on Nicklin Drive around 3.20am and died at the scene.
Around 3pm this afternoon a 29-year-old Mackay woman attended the Mackay Northern Beaches Police Station with a vehicle police believe was involved in the incident.
The vehicle has been seized for further examination and the woman is assisting police with inquiries.
Police continue to appeal for anyone with further information or relevant dash-cam footage to contact police.

Fatal hit and run, Beaconsfield

A woman has died following a hit and run incident at Beaconsfield in the Mackay area this morning.
The woman was struck by a vehicle as she was walking along Nicklin Drive around 3:20am.
The vehicle failed to stop, driving off in a westerly direction.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The vehicle involved is believed to have panel damage as a result of the incident.
Investigators are appealing for the driver of the vehicle or anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police.
Forensic crash investigators are also appealing for anyone who may have dash-cam vision to contact police.

Update: Death investigation, Morayfield

Police have released vision of three men who may be able to assist with investigations into the death of a man at Morayfield last month.
The body of 43-year-old Neil Bennett was located on January 19 in heavy vegetation near a creek on the northern side of Buchanan Road.
Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Mr Bennett’s death.
CCTV from January 11 depicts him running under the Sheep Station Creek Bridge towards Morayfield State High School carrying a black bag at around 6.30pm.
Police believe Mr Bennett came from the direction of the Morayfield Shopping Centre and he was wearing a “Popeye the Sailor Man” shirt which read “Welcome to the gun show” on the front.
Three men wearing orange hi-vis vests are seen running the same route behind him a short time later.

Grievous bodily harm, Gympie

Police have charged a 30-year-old man after an alleged serious assault at a hotel in Gympie on Sunday, February 23.
It will be alleged just after midnight, a 23-year-old Gympie man was in the smoking area at the back of the hotel when another man struck him in the face with a glass, rendering him unconscious.
The man has then punched the victim several times in the head, fracturing his cheekbone.
Today a man attended the Maroochydore Police Station after seeing the video online.
A 30-year-old Peregian Springs man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and will appear at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 23.

Fatal traffic crash, Minden

A 47-year-old motorcyclist has died following a traffic crash in Minden last night.
At about 7:20pm a motorcycle and a car have collided at the intersection of the Warrego Highway and Lowood Minden Road.
The motorcyclist was travelling west along the Warrego Highway and has turned left into Lowood Minden Road and collided with the car which was travelling eastbound heading from Hattonvale.
As a result of the crash the male motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the car, a 36-year-old Minden woman and a 12-year-old boy were transported to hospital with minor injuries. An 18-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage is urged to contact police.

Update: Grievous bodily harm charge, Nanango

A 41-year-old man critically injured during an alleged assault in Nanango on February 24 has died in hospital.
A 47-year-old Nanango man was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and has been remanded in custody to reappear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on April 12.
It is alleged around 3.15pm two men known to each other became involved in an altercation during which the 41-year-old man sustained a knee to the head.
Emergency services attended the Chester Street residence and the man was transported to Kingaroy Hospital.  He was subsequently airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he has since passed away.
Investigations are continuing.

Rape charge, Cairns

Police have charged a boy following the alleged rape of a woman in Cairns this morning.
It will be alleged a teenage boy gained entry to an Edmonton home around 5am and sexually assaulted a female resident.
The woman and boy were not known to each other. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.
Police attended the scene and arrested a 17-year-old boy a short time later.
He has been charged with rape, assault with intent to commit rape and enter dwelling with intent. The boy will remain in custody until his court appearance tomorrow.

Police officer stood down, Road Policing Command

A 47-year-old senior constable from the Road Policing Command has been stood down from duty with the Queensland Police Service.
The officer is subject to allegations relating to failure to investigate domestic violence matters.

Affray charges, Fortitude Valley

Detectives from the Organised Crime Gangs Group (Taskforce Maxima) have charged three men following an incident in Fortitude Valley in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It will be alleged around 3.15am on February 23, three men became involved in an altercation with a man outside a nightclub on Ann Street resulting in the man being violently assaulted.
He was transported to hospital with facial injuries.
A 33-year old man from Hamilton was charged with affray, a 31-year-old man from Newstead was charged with affray, failing to take reasonable care with a syringe and three counts of possessing dangerous drugs and a 29-year-old man from Logan was charged with affray, possessing dangerous drugs and breach of a domestic violence order.
They are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 23.
The three were also served with notices banning them from the Safe Night Precinct of Fortitude Valley.

Fatal traffic crash, Harlin

The Forensic Crash Unit will prepare a report for the coroner after an 85-year-old man involved in a traffic crash at Harlin on February 16 passed away in hospital yesterday (February 22).
Around 2pm a two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of the D’Aguilar Highway and Brisbane Valley Highway at Harlin.
The driver and sole occupant of a 4WD, an 85-year-old Wattle Camp man was injured and transported to hospital.
The occupants of a sedan, the 46-year-old female driver and her 54-year-old male passenger, both from Kingaroy, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
