Fatal traffic crash, Atherton

Forensic Crash Unit investigations continue after a woman struck by a vehicle in Atherton on February 18 passed away today.
Preliminary investigations indicate around 9:50am the woman was walking on the pedestrian crossing at Main Street when a white Mazda utility struck her.
The 83-year-old woman was transported to Atherton Hospital and then airlifted to Townsville Hospital with serious injuries.
Around 6:20am today the 83-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the Townsville Hospital.
The 59-year old male driver is assisting police.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.

Fatal motorcycle crash, Longreach

Police are investigating a fatal, single vehicle traffic crash in Longreach early this morning.
Initial investigations suggest the male rider lost control of his motorcycle at the intersection of Falcon Street and Duck Street at around 3am.
A 19-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police shooting, Brisbane

A man has been shot by police this morning after officers were called to a disturbance following reports a man armed with a knife had stabbed another man in Brisbane city.
Preliminary information indicates police received reports at around 10am that the man had stabbed another man in Mary Street.
It will be alleged the man charged at officers and was critically injured when police returned fire.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 26-year-old man has been transported to hospital with facial and back injuries.
This matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the State Coroner. That investigation is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
Police are appealing for anyone with any information which could assist with the investigation to contact or come forward.

GBH charge, Surfers Paradise

Gold Coast detectives have charged a man with grievous bodily harm following a disturbance in Surfers Paradise this morning (February 22).
It will be alleged at around 10.30am a man attended a Surfers Paradise home of a woman known to him. He was denied entry and left.
A 49-year-old Southport man, who was at the address, followed the man.
A short time later, at the intersection of Remembrance Drive and Peninsular Drive, it will be alleged the two men were involved in a physical altercation during which time the 49-year-old Southport man sustained a number of stab wounds.
Police attended the location and arrested a 49-year-old Surfers Paradise man charging him with grievous bodily harm and breaching a domestic violence order.
He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, February 24.
The 49-year-old Southport man was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Strangulation, deprivation of liberty charges – Booval

Ipswich detectives have charged a man following an alleged assault of a woman in Booval last night.
Police will allege that a 29-year-old man held a 28-year-old woman against her will in a unit while subjecting her to physical and verbal abuse.
It will further be alleged the woman was strangled and beaten, sustaining physical injuries to her head, wrists and face.
Police attended and arrested a North Ipswich man at 6.30pm.
He has been charged with five offences including strangulation (domestic violence offence), assault occasioning bodily harm, deprivation of liberty and contravene a domestic violence order.
He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
The woman was transported to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening physical injuries.

Detectives have charged a man following the death of a 49-year-old woman in Townsville this morning.
Police were called to the Pimlico address around 1am after a woman sustained fatal stab wounds.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 40-year-old Mount Isa man has been charged with one count of murder to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday, February 24.

Detectives are investigating after the death of a 49-year-old woman in Townsville during the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to a Granville Street address in Pimlico around 1am after reports a woman had been stabbed.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A crime scene has been established and investigators are on scene.

Fatal traffic crash, Springfield Central

A 13-year-old boy has died after colliding with a car at Springfield earlier this afternoon.
Around 3:30pm, preliminary investigations suggest the teenager was attempting to cross the road on his scooter when he collided with a utility.
Emergency services rendered first aid to the boy before he died on scene a short time later.
No one else was physically injured.
Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Sexual assault, Mount Isa

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed an alleged sexual assault at Mount Isa earlier this month to come forward.
Around 5pm on Monday February 10, a boy approached a 25-year-old woman walking along Pamela Street and allegedly touched her inappropriately. The incident occurred on Pamela Street, between Spence and East Streets.
Following the alleged assault, the boy ran along East Street towards the local shopping centre.
He is described as having dark complexion, around 180cm tall and wearing a black and red basketball singlet.
A 16-year-old boy has since been charged with sexual assault, however investigators wish to speak to anyone who witnessed the alleged act. or anyone who may know the victim.

Wilful damage, Miles

Police investigating the attempted break and enter of a bottle shop in Miles last month have released vision of the offender.
At 2.40am on Monday January 27, a woman has smashed the front door of the Murilla Street business with a piece of wood covered with material.
The woman has hit the glass door sixteen times and smashed the glass but failed to gain entry.
The woman is described as Caucasian, thin build, brown hair, wearing a black cap and sunglasses, blue top with white stripes on the arms, khaki shorts and black thongs.
