Serious traffic crash, Chahpingah

Police are investigating a serious, two-vehicle crash at Chahpinga yesterday afternoon.
Information suggests two vehicles collided on Kingaroy Burrandowan Road just before 1pm.
The 31-year-old male driver and sole occupant of one of the cars was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment to life-threatening injuries.
The 39-year-old female driver from the other car was not injured during the incident.
The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Wounding and assault charges, Cairns

A girl has been charged after two people were allegedly slashed with a knife in Central Cairns yesterday afternoon.
It will be alleged at around 2pm a 12-year-old girl was standing outside of a shopping centre on McLeod Street when she became aggressive towards a group of girls known to her.
It is further alleged she then produced a knife and chased the group, who fled into a nearby retail store.
The girl continued to follow one of the group behind the counter, a 16-year-old girl, and allegedly began stabbing her in the arm, causing injury.
A 47-year-old woman who attempted to intervene and stop the assault was also allegedly slashed across the arm.
The girl fled the store and was arrested by police a short time later. As she was being transported it is alleged the girl spat in the face of a police officer upon arrival at the watchhouse.

Fatal plane crash, Captain Creek

Two men have died in a plane crash at Captain Creek, near Agnes Waters this morning.
Around 7.00am, police and emergency services were called to a property on Round Hill Road, after reports of a plane crash.
Initial investigations confirm a light plane had crashed and the two men on board died at the scene.
Forensic Crash Unit officers will investigate the cause of the crash and prepare a report for the Coroner.

Police shooting, Tiaro

A man has been fatally shot by police this morning after officers were called to Tiaro last night following reports a man armed with a rifle was firing on vehicles and members of the public.
Preliminary information indicates police received reports from around 8.30pm (December 7) that an armed man was in a vehicle and travelling around the area.
Multiple police units, including specialist officers and Polair searched for the man throughout the night and at around 7am this morning police located the man at a house in Glenbar Road, Tiaro.
It will be alleged the man fired at officers and was critically injured when police returned fire. The 40-year-old local man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the State Coroner. That investigation is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Update 1: Multiple offences, Murarrie and Tingalpa

Detectives from Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 29-year-old man with nine offences including child stealing and going armed so as to cause fear following a number of incidents on Brisbane’s southside yesterday afternoon (Saturday, December 7).
The Stretton man has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow (December 9) charged with two counts of child stealing, two counts of wilful damage and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, going armed so as to cause fear, assault occasioning bodily harm, attempt to enter and commit an indictable offence and fail to comply with a requirement to stop a vehicle.
Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a metallic blue Holden Commodore station wagon driving erratically on Wynnum Road who may have dashcam of the area at the time to contact them (details below).

Fatal traffic crash, Muckadilla

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash involving a four-wheel-drive and a cattle truck that occurred at Muckadilla last night.
Preliminary information suggests the four-wheel drive was travelling westbound on the Warrego Highway when it collided with a road train carrying more than 150 head of cattle at 10.50pm.
The prime mover rolled, causing the vehicle’s cabin and trailers to catch fire.
The driver and sole occupant of the four-wheel-drive, a 39-year-old Roma man, suffered extensive injuries from the crash and was declared deceased at the scene.
The 47-year-old male driver of the road train was not seriously injured.
A number of cattle were killed in the collision, with some also being euthanized due to injury.
The Warrego Highway will remain under traffic control this morning while the scene is cleared.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Serious traffic crash, Palm Grove

Police are investigating a single vehicle traffic crash at Palm Grove near Proserpine yesterday which has left two teenagers seriously injured.
Preliminary information suggests a Toyota Hilux ute was travelling along Cedar Creek Falls Road around 3.40pm when it lost control and struck a tree before falling down an embankment.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old Mandalay man, suffered significant injuries and was transported to Proserpine Hospital in a serious condition.
An 18-year-old male passenger from Cannon Valley was also critically injured and airlifted to Townsville Hospital.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Multiple offences, Murarrie and Tingalpa

A 29-year-old man is assisting police with inquiries following a string of offences this afternoon across South Brisbane.
At 5pm, officers were called to Murrarie following reports a man had caused damage to a building on Lytton Road with his car.
It was then reported he had approached several children on Wodonga Street before he fled in his car after he was scared off by adults in the street.
From here the man drove dangerously along Wynnum Rd to a service station at Tingalpa where he assaulted people in the forecourt of the business and damaged vehicles in the parking area.
The man then attempted to force entry to the service station.
Officers were called to the service station where the man was located, armed with a metal bar and he was taken into custody just after 6pm.
He is currently under police guard at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Revoked – Emergency situation, Bundamba

Police have revoked an emergency situation called to contain a dangerous bushfire at Bundamba this afternoon.
The emergency declaration was bound by Keith Street to Bognuda Street and Nelson Street to the Bremer River and Warrego Highway.
Residents within the exclusion zone can now return home and are urged to follow the advice of emergency services on the ground.
The declaration was made at 2pm under the provisions of the Public Safety Preservation Act.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services had issued an Emergency Warning at 2.10pm urging residents to leave immediately.

Fatal traffic crash, Greenvale

Police are investigating following a fatal single vehicle traffic crash near Townsville yesterday (December 6).
Preliminary information suggests that around 11am a vehicle was travelling south along Gregory Developmental Road when it veered off the road and struck trees around 18 kilometres south of Greenvale.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a Gin Gin man aged in his 70s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit continue with officers appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or motorists with relevant dash cam vision, to contact them (details below).
