Fatal traffic crash, Sarina

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash between a car and B-Double truck just south of Sarina last night.
Initial investigations suggest the Suzuki Swift was travelling south on the Bruce Highway when it collided head on with a B-Double that was heading north around 7pm.
The driver of the car, a 54-year-old woman from New South Wales, suffered significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 50-year-old male driver of the truck was not seriously injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Fatal house fire, Carina

Police are investigating after a house fire claimed the life of a woman at Carina yesterday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to a residence just after 4pm and found the home engulfed by flames.
The blaze was extinguished by fire crews and a further inspection of the house resulted in the location of a  woman.
A crime scene was declared and investigations will continue to determine the cause of the fire.

Wounding, Bethania

Police have charged a man after a Bethania resident was allegedly stabbed at his home this morning.
It will be alleged that around 5.30am, a man armed with a large knife gained entry to a resident’s back-yard on Federation Drive.
The two occupants awoke to the sound of their dog barking and upon investigating, the 35-year-old male resident confronted the man, who was not known to him.
It will be alleged that a short struggled ensued, during which the 35-year-old resident received a puncture wound to his chest, before the man fled on foot.
Paramedics attended and transported the 35-year-old man to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.
Police patrolled the area where they located and arrested a man in the front-yard of a nearby property. He was transported to Logan Hospital for assessment.
A 31-year-old Maryborough man has now been charged with two counts of wilful damage and one count each of wounding,

Emergency declaration revoked, Lowood

Police have revoked an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) following a bush fire burning in the vicinity of Lowood today.
The declaration was made after a single vehicle traffic crash occurred on Patricks Estate Road around 1pm which sparked the blaze.
The PSPA was revoked as of 8.28pm, however the Brisbane Valley Highway remains closed between the twin bridges and Esk due to a large bushfire which continues to burn.
Residents are advised to continue to follow the instructions emergency services on scene.

Emergency declaration, Lowood

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to a dangerous bush fire burning in the vicinity of Lowood.
The emergency declaration is bound by Brisbane Valley Highway to the north, along the Brisbane River to Lowood, west along Forest Hill-Fernvale Road to Coominya Connection Road.
Residents within the exclusion zone are urged to follow the advice of emergency services on the ground.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

Update 1: Woman charged following investigation into theft of livestock, Pittsworth (Darling Downs)

An on-going investigation by State Crime Command’s Major and Organised Crime Squad’s (Rural)   into the alleged theft of piglets from a Pittsworth piggery in November has resulted in detectives yesterday charging a 29-year-old Margate woman in relation to three separate incidents of alleged stock theft from farming properties on the Darling Downs.
Police commenced their investigation after several piglets were allegedly stolen from a Pittsworth piggery on November 10.
On November 20 detectives executed search warrants at addresses in Margate, Banyo and Currumbin Waters. Four women – a 29-year-old from Margate, a 27-year-old from Nudgee, a 21-year-old from Alexandra Hills and later a 21-year-old from Petrie were arrested and charged with enter with intent and stock stealing, as well as biosecurity offences.
Various court dates for the women include Redcliffe Magistrates on December 11 and Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 13.

Revocation of stand down, Central Region

A 41-year-old male Sergeant from Central Region who was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service will now return to operational duties.
The officer was stood down in June 2019 in relation to off-duty conduct. These matters have now been finalised.
In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.
This does not mean that the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.

Grievous bodily harm investigation, Morayfield

Detectives investigating a serious assault of a man in June are appealing for anyone who may have seen a car enter bushland at Morayfield releasing images and vision as part of an appeal.
Around 4pm on June 19, a 47-year-old man was found unconscious near a van in bushland off Morayfield Road.
It is believed that he was left with severe brain injuries after being seriously assaulted three days earlier.
He was travelling in a black 1999 Mercedes Benz van bearing Queensland registration plates MOT037.
It was last seen leaving Hargrave Street on June 16 before entering bushland off Morayfield Road, just before Paradise Road, sometime between June 16 and June 19.
Anyone who may have seen the van, particularly as it entered the bushland, is urged to contact police.

Attempted armed robbery, Dalby – CCTV released

Police investigating the attempted armed robbery of a bottle shop in Dalby are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man pictured in newly released CCTV of the incident.
At around 8pm on October 26 a man approached the business on Nicholson Street shortly after closing and knocked on the door.
The shop attendant, a 72-year-old man, opened the door and the man attempted to push his way inside, producing a large knife.
The attendant tried to close the door on the man and an altercation ensued between the pair which moved into the carpark of the premises.
The attendant eventually managed to push the man away and lock himself inside the store. The man fled the scene towards Coutts Street.
The attendant was not seriously injured during the incident.

Fatal crash, Upper Dawson

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating after a 23-year-old man died in a single vehicle crash at Upper Dawson  yesterday  (December 5).
Preliminary information suggests at around 1.15pm a rigid truck was travelling north on the Carnarvon Highway, approximately 53kms from Injune, when it lost control and rolled off the road into a culvert.
The driver and sole occupant, a 23-year-old Yarrabilba man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision to contact police (details below).
