Armed robbery, Meadowbrook

Police have charged a man over the alleged armed robbery of bottle-shop at Meadowbrook this morning.
It will be alleged that around 9.05am, a man entered the Logandowns Drive business armed with a large knife, threatened the 45-year-old male employee and demanded cash.
The employee complied and the man then allegedly stole a two litre bottle of ‘Jack Daniels’ whiskey, before fleeing on foot with the alcohol and a quantity of cash.
Police attended the scene. Subsequent investigations lead officers to arrest a man on Burchill Street, Loganlea.
A 19-year-old Bethania man has now been charged with one count of armed robbery.
He is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court (today) Wednesday, December 4.

Update – Search for stolen coins, Blackwater

Police who were yesterday seeking public assistance have located the majority of a collection of unique gold coins stolen from a Blackwater home last week.
The majority of Krugerrand, a South African gold currency which was taken from the Hobler Court address on Thursday November 28 has been recovered, with one coin still outstanding.
The property was located at two addresses in Emerald following assistance from members of the public.
A 17-year-old man was charged with burglary and commit an indictable offence in relation to the crime on November 30.

Arrest following investigation into organised crime syndicate, Gold Coast

A search warrant was executed by Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS), State Crime Command Organised Crime Gangs Group at a Benowa address yesterday as part of an ongoing investigation into organised crime impacting the Gold Coast community.
Detectives have arrested a 33-year-old man, alleged to be a member of the Lone Wolf OMCG, after seizing firearms, drugs and suspected stolen luxury vehicles.
During the search of the address four vehicles were seized, along with a Harley Davidson motorcycle, jewellery ($20,000), drugs, firearms including four handguns, a semi-automatic shot-gun, a semi-automatic rifle and ammunition.
The 33-year-old was charged with firearm, drugs and property offences and is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Drug charges, Gladstone

Detectives have charged a man with supplying dangerous drugs after intercepting a car near Gladstone earlier this week.
Around 4.30pm on December 2 police intercepted a car travelling along Gladstone Mount Larcom Road towards Gladstone. Upon searching the vehicle police located dangerous drugs including methamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis and GHB.
A shortened shot gun taser and knife were also located.
Detectives arrested the man and executed a search warrant at a Oxley Avenue address the following day, December 3.
A 43-year-old South Gladstone man has been charged with 19 offences including two counts each of supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs schedule 1 and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons category H (shotgun), unlawful possession of weapons category R (taser) and unlawful possession of weapons category M (knife).
The man will appear at Gladstone Magistrates Court later today.

Update: Police vehicle rammed, Nambour

Sunshine Coast police have arrested a man following a police vehicle being rammed on November 30.
At around 8.20pm officers from the Criminal Investigation Branch spotted the grey Mazda sedan that had been reported stolen from Yandina travelling through Nambour CBD.
Police followed the vehicle until it entered the driveway of a residence on National Park Road.
It will be alleged, the stolen car was then reversed twice into the stationary police vehicle, forcing officers and a passenger who fled the Mazda to take evasive action.
The force of the collision caused the police vehicle to travel back out on the road prior to coming to a stop in the front yard of another residence.
The stolen car was then allegedly driven again at police before speeding from the scene and crashing into a street sign on Sapphire Street.
The driver fled the vehicle in an unknown direction.
Both officers and the passenger sustained minor injuries. The

Fatal traffic crash, Mackay

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal crash on Peak Downs Highway, five kilometres west of Eton.
At 3pm, a Mitsubishi ute was travelling west along the highway when it rolled down an embankment.
Emergency services and members of the public rendered first aid to a 55-year-old man, however he was declared deceased at the scene a short time later.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.

QPS spreading Christmas cheer

Christmas cheer was certainly felt, and heard today at the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Christmas concert.
QPS kicked off the celebrations at the Queen Street Mall stage where concertgoers danced and sang along to the Queensland Police Pipes and Drums, Melody in Blue and Band of Blue, and were also joined by QPS mascots.

The Christmas concert is an annual event and is a time for the QPS to give back to the community by spreading Christmas cheer.
This free family event will continue running for the next two days from midday to 2pm, to ensure all mums, dads and kids from all over Brisbane get the chance to visit and sing along to the Christmas carols.

Cannabis operations result in 47 charged with drug and weapons offences

Police have charged 47 people on 163 drugs and weapons offences as part of ongoing operations by the State Crime Command’s Drug and Serious Crime Group targeting the production and supply of cannabis across the Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay and Capricornia districts.
In a week of proactive and co-ordinated operational activity commencing November 24, a series of search warrants were executed by the State Drug Squad as part of Operation Romeo Factor as well as by the Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) together with the Firearms and Cannabis Team and Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Tactical Crime Squads as part of Operation Pine.
During the operations police executed 53 search warrants across properties from the Sunshine Coast to Gladstone, locating 18 kilograms of dried cannabis, 593 cannabis plants and 26 hydroponic systems actively being used in the production of cannabis.

Fatal traffic crash, Mareeba

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic crash at Mareeba this morning.
Just after 8am, preliminary investigations suggest that a car was turning on to the Kennedy Highway from Malone Road when it collided with a motorcyclist.
A 54-year-old female rider was conveyed to Mareeba Hospital in a critical condition where she later died.
A 63-year-old female driver of the car suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.
The Kennedy Highway will be closed later today to allow officers from the Forensic Crash Unit to continue investigations.
Motorists are advised to take extra care when travelling through the area and to allow extra travel time.
