Indecent assault and wilful damage, Palm Beach

Police have released vision of a man as part of their investigation into the indecent assault of a woman and wilful damage of a taxi at Palm Beach on Sunday August 25.
Shortly before 4.00am, a 51-year-old driver picked up a 20-year-old Palm Beach woman from an establishment at Broadbeach.
An unknown man approached the vehicle and asked if they were headed in the direction of ‘Tallebudgera’, before getting into the rear of the taxi.
The trio continued south. During the journey, the man reached forward to the front-passenger seat and indecently assaulted the sleeping woman for approximately two minutes.
The driver stopped at Tahiti Avenue to drop the woman off, where he realised what was occurring and intervened.
The man then exited the vehicle, opened the front passenger-door and attempted to forcefully remove the woman from the taxi.

Fatal motorbike crash, Capalaba

A man has died following a motorbike crash in Capalaba this afternoon.
Preliminary investigations indicate the man was travelling westbound on Finucane Road around 3.40pm when he lost control of his motorbike near Elmhurst Street.
The 31-year-old Birkdale man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Forensic Crash investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision to contact police.

Robbery, Springwood

Police are seeking public assistance to identify a person who stole from a business at Springwood on August 20.
Just after 4am, a white ute approached the Dennis Road business where the person loaded several items into its tray.
The stolen items included hydraulic jacks and parts for specialist medical equipment.
The person has then left the premises in an unknown direction.
Police are urging anyone who may have information that could identify the vehicle or person involved to come forward.

Police officer stood down, Southern Region

A 47-year-old male senior constable from Southern Region has been stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service and will be tasked to perform non-operational duties.

Update – A man and a boy charged over armed robberies, Waterford West

Detectives from the Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a man and a boy in connection to four armed robberies at two different pizza stores at Waterford West since September 1, 2019.
It is alleged around 10.22pm on September 1 a man armed with a knife has robbed a pizza store on Kingston Road. This same pizza store was again robbed at 10.20pm on September 9 where two men both armed with knives, entered the store and made demands for money.
At 10.20pm on September 5 it is alleged two men armed with knives entered a different pizza store on Kingston Road and made demands for money. This same pizza store was again robbed around 9.50pm on September 13 by three men armed with knives.

Operation Romeo Dambulla closure, Townsville

In February 2019 detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad (Northern) based in Townsville commenced Operation Romeo Dambulla targeting a syndicate involved in the trafficking of drugs in North Queensland.
Over the weekend (September 14 and September 15), the operation was closed following the execution of multiple search warrants at Townsville properties.
The operation has resulted in 16 people being arrested on 127 offences.
This includes five people charged with drug trafficking.
During the course of the operation investigators have seized approximately 2502 grams of cannabis, $63,010 in cash and a number of conducted energy weapons.
Detectives also seized a large quantity of high-end accessories and property that they will allege was purchased with the proceeds of drug trafficking.
Three people were charged for serious drug offences including trafficking and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today.

Armed person, Heatley

An 18-year-old man has been charged after trespassing and producing a samurai sword in public.
Just after 10pm last night, police were conducting a routine patrol when they noticed a member of the public chasing a man towards Fulham Road at Heatley, allegedly armed with a samurai sword.
Police attempted to apprehend the man when he allegedly threatened officers with the sword and fled into nearby parkland.
A search of the park was conducted where the man was located and taken into custody.
It will be alleged the man was trespassing on a property in Lindeman Avenue and fled when the resident confronted him.
The Heatley man has been charged with one count each of possession of a knife in a public place, going armed to cause fear, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property and trespass.
He will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today, September 16.

Fatal traffic crash, Townsville

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic crash in Townsville yesterday.
Emergency services were called to a single vehicle traffic crash on John Melton Black Drive at 7:30pm.
It is believed the vehicle left the road and came to rest in a group of shrubs. Two members of the public commenced CPR on the driver before emergency services arrived.
A 62-year-old Townsville man was declared deceased a short time later.
A preliminary investigation indicates the man suffered a medical episode which led to the crash.
Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing investigations.

Update: Traffic crash, Ashmore

Detectives investigating a traffic crash which occurred at Ashmore this morning have charged a man.
At 3.50am the driver of a Nissan Qashqai lost control and crashed into a house on Kallaroo Crescent.
The vehicle had false plates and the driver ran from the scene.
A 28-year-old man from Banora Point (NSW) has been arrested and charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving of a motor vehicle and drive a motor vehicle without a drivers licence – disqualified by a court.
He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, September 16).
The two residents of the house, who were asleep at the time, were not injured.
