Shooting incident, Cooktown

A 40-year-old man has been injured after police discharged their firearm during an incident at Cooktown this morning.
Officers responded to reports of a disturbance at a Savage Street address around 9.45am.
Preliminary investigations indicate on arrival, police were allegedly confronted and threatened by a man armed with a knife before a police officer discharged their firearm at the man.
Officers provided immediate first aid to the man before he was transported to Cooktown Hospital for treatment.
The Ethical Standards Command has commenced an investigation into the incident which will be overviewed by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Robbery with violence Logan Central

Police are investigating the robbery with violence of a 55-year-old man in parklands at Logan Central last night.
Around 8pm the man was walking through the parklands near Civic Parade when he was approached by four to six male offenders between the ages of 16 to 18 years.
The group made demands for property from the man before assaulting him with tree branches and sticks before stealing his wallet and a bag.
The males then fled the scene.
The man sustained minor abrasions to his head and right arm and was transported to Logan Hospital for treatment.
Anyone who may have seen this group in the area around the time of the incident or have any information about the incident is urged to contact police.

Deprivation of liberty charge, North Lakes

Police have charged a 26-year-old Morayfield man after a girl was allegedly taken from a North Lakes shopping centre and assaulted on Saturday December 8.
Police will allege on Saturday December 8, a man in his 20’s attended a shopping centre in North Lakes and spoke to a 7-year-old girl.
It is further alleged the girl and the man left the shopping centre together and returned over an hour later.  Police were contacted and immediately commenced an investigation.
Detectives from Pine Rivers Child Protection Investigation Unit and detectives from State Crime Command Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Group established an investigation centre focusing on locating the man and establishing what had occurred.
Detectives arrested a 26-year-old man last night and he has been charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty, taking a child for immoral purposes and indecent treatment of a child under 12 years.

Armed robbery, Brisbane City

Police have responded to an armed hold up of a convenience store on Ann Street tonight.
At around 1 am three people wearing dark clothing, entered the store armed with a knife, hammer and scissors and demanded cash and cigarettes.
The trio have fled with a quantity of cash and cigarettes towards Roma Street.
Two men and a woman were apprehended a short time later and are assisting police with their inquiries.  Cash and cigarettes were recovered from them
Police investigations are continuing.

Appeal for witnesses – serious crash, Burpengary

Police investigating a serious, two vehicle traffic crash which occurred on Tuesday, November 27, are appealing for public assistance.
At around 7.40pm on the north bound lanes of the Bruce Highway near the Weigh Station at Burpengary,
a silver Ford Falcon sedan clipped a black Mini Cooper.
The impact caused the Mini Cooper to hit a light post before it rolled onto its roof and then slid into a power pole at the entrance to the weigh station.
The silver Ford Falcon left the scene and continued to travel in a northerly direction along the Bruce Highway.
The driver of the mini Cooper, a 57-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she remains.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating with officers urging anyone with relevant dashcam footage or information relating to the crash or the vehicles involved prior to the crash, to contact them.

Appeal for assistance – break and enter offences, Wynnum

Police are investigating a number of break and enter offences committed in Wynnum West over the last two months which occurred on three separate occasions at a business on Randall Road.
On October 28 at about 2.30am, a person gained entry to the business by breaking a window and damaging a wall. The person fled the scene with a quantity of propertyn which had been taken from the store.
On November 21 at about 2am, a man attempted to gain entry to the business by smashing a glass panel however he was unsuccessful. The man was last seen fleeing the scene on a bicycle.
Several days later on November 26 at about 3.30am, a man gained entry to the business by forcing open a glass sliding door. The man fled the scene a short time later on a bicycle and with a sum of cash.

Fatal crash, Rosevale

Police are investigating a traffic incident where a man died in Rosevale today.
Around 11am, a vehicle travelling on Tarome Road left the roadway and collided with a tree.
The 67-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident including whether a medical condition may have contributed to the crash.

Armed robbery, Douglas

Police are investigating an armed robbery incident that occurred at Douglas (Townsville) this afternoon.
At about 12.50pm, a man entered a licenced premises on Riverside Boulevard and threatened to use a firearm against a staff member whilst demanding money.
The man fled the store a short time later with a sum of cash.
No one was injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Police investigating an alleged altercation between a man and a woman at a Redbank shopping centre on October 2 are appealing to members of the public to help identify a man who may be able to assist police with their inquiries.
Investigations indicate the incident occurred at about 3.30pm at a shopping centre on Collingwood Drive.

Serious traffic crash – Logan Central

Police are investigating a serious traffic crash between a car and a mini motorbike at Logan Central this morning.
The collision occurred around 9.40am on Wembley Road.
The 28-year-old male rider of the motorbike has been taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with life threatening injuries. He is presently in a critical condition.
The 31-year-old female driver of the car was not injured in the crash.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the collision.
