Police have made an emergency declaration due to a toxic substance in Maranoa this afternoon.
At around 1pm, emergency services responded to reports two incompatible chemicals had been mixed near the reservoir.
A declaration was made under the Public Safety and Preservation Act at 1.45pm and in encompasses the boundaries of Burke Street, Russell Street and the western end of High Street.
Police are asking people to avoid the area or if indoors, close any windows and doors and turn on air conditioning.
Any reports of noxious odours related to the incident should be reported to police.

Serious traffic incident, Palm Cove
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of a serious traffic incident at Palm Cove overnight resulting in a 17-year-old boy sustaining severe head injuries.
Initial inquiries indicate around 10.10pm, the teenage boy was riding a bicycle on Deep Acres Drive next to a Toyota Aurion sedan.
The boy was holding onto the vehicle as it travelled near Argentea Boulevard when he fell, landing heavily and striking his head on the road.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, is known to the boy.
The boy was taken to Cairns Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigations are continuing.

Ice campaign: The Turning Point
The Queensland Police Service has joined the Queensland Government’s new strategy for combating Ice use.
One key focus of the campaign will be to treat Ice-users who need help breaking out of the addiction.
Tammy has been clean for 20 months and wants to share her story to encourage other Ice users to seek help.
She originally turned to Ice because of her social circle, and then to help her cope with difficulties in her life.
Isolating herself from friends and family, Tammy couldn’t see how much she needed help, even when her mother found out and tried to confront her.
“I didn’t think I had a problem,” Tammy said.
“The turning point was losing everything.”
After Tammy lost her house, her licence, her car and even her kids, she knew she had to make changes.

Armed robbery, Cairns North
Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery in Cairns North this afternoon.
It will be alleged around 4:40pm a man entered a medical centre on Sheridan Street armed with knife.
Police will further allege the man demanded a doctor fill out a medical script before fleeing to a nearby pharmacy to obtain the pharmaceuticals.
Officers commenced patrols of the area and a man was taken into custody at the intersection of Lily Street and Sheridan Street just after 6pm.
A 38-year-old Bungalow man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, fraud, unlawful possession of a weapon (Category M) and possessing dangerous drugs.
He is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on November 7.

On Friday, November 2 the QPS Photographic Section hosted a cocktail party for over 100 guests to celebrate 125 years of photographic services in the QPS.
The function was held in the impressive setting on Level 41, 1 William Street, Brisbane.
The guests comprised past and present members and their companions, including former Officers in Charge, Inspector Adrian Freeman, Mr Kevin Finch (Retired), Mr Terrance Stewart (Retired), and Ms Valerie Philips (Retired) who was the first female photographer for the QPS.
There have been 13 Officers-In-Charge of the Photographic Section, including the current OIC is Inspector Phillip
Attempted armed robbery, Ningi
Police investigating the attempted armed robbery of a chemist at Ningi on Sunday have released vision of the incident.
At around 8.30am on November 4, a man entered the business on Bribie Island Road through the automatic doors and then stepped behind the counter.
The man then threatened the male Chemist on duty and made demands for goods.
Following a brief altercation, the man fled the scene empty handed and onto Bribie Island Road where he was last seen heading in an easterly direction.
Officers believe the man depicted in the CCTV may be able to assist with investigations into the incident.
He is described as Caucasion, aged between 18 and 25 years, approximately 180 centimetres tall and wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper, dark shorts and dark sunglasses.
Anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area at the time or who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour is urged to contact police.

Suspicious house fire, Mission River
Police are investigating after a house was destroyed by a fire earlier this morning at Mission River.
Officers were called to a house on Twal Street just after 2am following reports of a disturbance.
On arrival, the house was found engulfed in flames and was destroyed.
No one was inside or injured as a result of the incident.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with arson and two domestic violence offences and is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today via videolink.
Police investigations at the scene will continue throughout the day.

Update: Fatal shark bite, Whitsunday Island (Cid Harbour)
The Whitsunday Water Police will be conducting patrols of Cid Harbour today along with vessels from other Queensland and Commonwealth Government agencies.
The patrols are designed to provide reassurance to the boating community and tourists on the water.
Yesterday a 33-year-old man was bitten by a shark in the waters of Cid Harbour. The species of shark is as yet unknown.
The man was part of a group of ten people on a 40 foot sailing boat which left Airlie Beach from Amity Point.
When the vessel arrived in Cid Harbour, the man and a woman were taking turns paddle boarding in the water.
When the man got off the paddle boat and into the water, he was bitten by the shark.
French-speaking tourists in a nearby vessel launched a tender to reach the pair and brought them back to their boat.

Officers appointed to commissioned and executive rank
Yesterday, Commissioner Ian Stewart was joined by Mr Peter Russo, Member for Toohey to congratulate officers who were presented with appointment certificates in the commissioned and executive officer ranks.
The appointment of an officer to a commissioned rank in the Service is an important milestone in an officer’s career and comes after the officer has demonstrated advanced levels in the core attributes and personal qualities required of commissioned officers.
A commissioned rank in the QPS is inspector and above, and an executive officer is assistant commissioner and above.
Assistant Commissioners Sharon Cowden and Brett Schafferius received their Certificates of Appointment to the executive rank along with one chief superintendent, six superintendents and 20 inspectors.
Commissioner Stewart said the process of being appointed to a commissioned and executive rank involves the application of skill and commitment over an extended period in a competitive environment.

Police reminder about counterfeit notes
Police are reminding the public and businesses to be vigilant for counterfeit $50 notes following a number of notes that have been passed on the northern side of the Gold Coast in the past few days.
The notes have been passed at licensed premises, gaming areas and service stations.
The $50 notes have different serial numbers and are a very good likeness however the feel of the note is not totally authentic and some of the colouring rubs away if rubbed vigorously with your finger. It also has a lack of coat of arms watermark when held to the light.
