Armed robbery, Rockhampton

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Rockhampton yesterday evening.
At about 7.45pm, a man using an automatic teller machine in Musgrave Street was approached by a man armed with a knife who demanded his wallet.
The man attempted to run from the armed man, however fell dropping his wallet.
The armed man took the wallet and fled the scene in a vehicle.
No one was injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Traffic crash, Toowoomba

Police are investigating a traffic crash that occurred at Toowoomba this afternoon.
At about 3.10pm, a grey Mercedes-Benz sedan travelling east along Bruntnell street proceeded through the intersection with Ruthven Street into the driveway of a motel on Ruthven Street.
The vehicle collided with a parked Hyundai Getz that was unoccupied at the time and continued, colliding with the motel reception causing extensive damage to the building.
The driver of the vehicle was located a short distance away and was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital with possible spinal injuries.
No other persons were injured as a result of the crash.
Investigations are continuing.

Armed robbery, Cannon Hill

Police are seeking public assistance to solve an armed robbery that happened yesterday at Cannon Hill.
At around 8.15pm a man had returned to his carpark, after shopping at a Wynnum Road shopping centre.
As he was placing his shopping into his red Holden Commodore he was approached by a man who threatened him with a knife and demanded the keys to the car.
The armed man fled in the Commodore.
The car is described as a red Holden Commodore sedan bearing Queensland registration 084VMW.
Anyone who observes the vehicle are advised to contact police and not to approach the vehicle.
Police would like to speak with this man (pictured) as he may be able to assist with their inquiries.
Police are seeking any witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone who was driving in that area at that time to contact police.
Police investigations are continuing.

Dangerous drugs charges, Sarina

A joint operation between Mackay Tactical Crime Squad and Australian Border Force has resulted in the seizure of dangerous drugs from a Sarina residence allegedly intended for distribution.
A search warrant was executed at a Utah Avenue address yesterday where officers located a quantity of MDMA and Viagra.
It is alleged a man taken into custody at the residence has been involved in the supply of dangerous drugs to at least 20 people over a period of two years.
It is further alleged the man had attempted to import cocaine and MDMA valued at nearly $40,000 which was intercepted by Australian Border Force.
A 32-year-old Sarina man was charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of restricted drugs and possessing anything for use in the commission of crime.
He is due to appear Mackay Magistrates Court on November 14.

Animal cruelty investigation, Townsville

Queensland Police are investigating after a number of wallaby carcasses were located at an educational facility in Douglas overnight.
The two carcasses were located on the campus overnight and reported to police this morning.
The incident may be linked to a similar incident on October 5 where three wallaby carcasses with apparent gunshot wounds were located at the same campus.

Unlawful wounding, Gladstone

A man has been charged after another man received a puncture wound during an alleged assault outside a licensed premises in Gladstone this morning.
Around 2.15am an 18-year-old man was standing in Yarroon Street when the other man approached him and stabbed him with a knife once to lower abdomen.
The armed man was restrained by security staff from a nearby hotel until police arrived.
The victim was transported to Gladstone Hospital for treatment to a non-life threatening injury.
Investigations indicate the two men were not known to each other.
An 18-year-old Kin Kora man has been charged with one count of unlawful wounding.
He is expected to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday, October 8.

Linked robberies, Townsville

Detectives are investigating after two separate liquor stores in West End and Thuringowa Central were robbed overnight by a man armed with a weapon.
Around 7.20pm, the man with his face covered and armed with a firearm has entered the Stagpole Street drive-thru bottle shop and demanded money.
The female store attendant complied, and the man stole cash from the till before fleeing on foot into Sydney Street.
The man then entered a small silver sedan in Harold Street before it accelerated away at speed.
A short time later, police were called to a Thuringowa Central liquor store after a man armed with a firearm threatened a male employee and demanded cash.
The store attendant complied and the man stole a sum of cash from the till before fleeing the High Range Drive drive-thru bottle shop.
No one was physically injured during the incident.

Police officer stood down Southern Region

A 35-year-old Senior Constable from the Southern Region has been stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service and will be tasked to perform non-operational duties.
The officer is the subject of an investigation into allegations he drove his private motor vehicle whilst under the influence of a prescription drug. He is also to appear before the Caboolture Magistrates Court on October 25 on one charge of dangerous operation whilst adversely effected.

Arrest over crime on Brisbane’s northside

Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man in relation to a number of serious criminal offences committed across Brisbane’s northside.
A warrant had been issued for his arrest in relation to an alleged burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle incident.
The man was last night located and taken into custody at a home on Boronia Drive on Bribie Island.
This arrest was the result of a targeted and coordinated operation involving a range of officers from property crime teams, general duties, tactical crime squads, Criminal Investigation Branches, intelligence officers and the dog squad.
Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming said the arrest was the result of tenacious police work.
“We have been focused on bringing a person alleged to have committed a number of serious offences before the Court and we have done just that,” Detective Superintendent Fleming said.

Mackay drug operation, charges

Mackay detectives have charged 10 people with 30 drug and weapons related offences following the execution of search warrants in the Mackay District on October 3 and 4.
Officers from the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch and Tactical Operations Team allegedly located illicit drugs such as methylampetamine, cannabis plants  (30), three unlicensed firearms, including a silencer, and a conductive energy device.
Operation Quebec Mascon, targeting the supply and production of dangerous drugs in the Mackay district, has been running for most of 2018.
Detective A/Senior Sergeant Jack Savage, Officer-in-Charge of the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch said the drug operation is on-going with police determined to disrupt and dismantle the production and supply of illicit drugs in the Mackay area.
“If members of the Mackay and surrounding communities have information that can assist police in targeting drug offenders, then I encourage them to contact police”.
