Assault appeal for witnesses, Fortitude Valley

Detectives investigating an alleged assault that left a man with severe facial fractures in Fortitude Valley earlier this month are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
Around 1.43am on Sunday August 5, an altercation occurred involving a large group of people outside licensed premises in Ann Street resulting in a 21-year-old man sustaining facial injuries.
Anyone in the area during 1.30am and 2am on August 5 who may be able to assist with investigations, particularly pedestrians with mobile phone footage or road users with dash cam vision, is urged to contact police.
Investigations into the alleged incident are continuing.

Fatal traffic incident, Dirranbandi

A man has died after falling from a utility onto the road at Dirranbandi last night.
At around 7.30pm, emergency services received a call saying the man had fallen from the vehicle and onto Narine Road.
Emergency Services travelled to the remote location approximately 40 kilometres out of Durmandi and located the 24-year-old man, deceased at the scene.
There were three other men in the vehicle at the time aged 25, 19 and 18.
The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Suspicious death, Rocklea

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at Rocklea last night.
Just after 9pm officers were called to Beaudesert Road following reports of an altercation between two men.
On arrival, a man aged in his 30s was located with a neck injury and was declared deceased at the scene.
A second man also aged in his 30s was located nearby on Blackwood Street. He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to hand, face and shoulder injuries.
A crime scene has been established as detectives investigate the man’s death.

Attempted armed robbery, Woodridge

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred in Woodridge this afternoon.
Officers were called to a grocery store on Smith Road at 5.35pm after a girl entered the business and approached the counter.
She made demands for money, and when the attendant did not comply, she lunched at him with a knife before fleeing the scene empty handed.
During the incident, the male suffered a laceration to his chest and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment of what are believed to be no-life-threatening injuries.
The girl was last seen wearing a dark hooded jumper and trousers and was last seen on Smith Road.
Investigations are continuing.

Update – Wilful damage, Strathpine

Detectives from Pine Rivers Criminal Investigation Branch have released CCTV footage as they appeal for public assistance to identify those responsible for significant damage caused to an office overnight in Strathpine.
Around 1.44am, four reinforced glass windows and two glass doors were smashed at a Gympie Road address with some of the brick pavers also leaving puncture holes in the walls.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time of the incident to please contact them.

Police disappointed in farm stealing incident, Blackbutt

A 41-year-old Blackbutt man has today been charged with the alleged theft of four tonnes of avocados during 2017 and 2018.
Today, officers from the Kingaroy Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) charged the man following an investigation into the theft of the avocados (worth approximately $20,000) from two orchards in and around the Blackbutt area.
Surveillance cameras show a car entering the orchards and stealing the avocados during the last two winter picking seasons.
The 41-year-old man has been charged with a total of 18 offences including six counts of stealing, six counts of receiving stolen property and six counts of fraud.
“These four tonnes of avocados represent income for these two farms and as a result they have suffered significant losses. Our farmers need as much support as possible at this time and theft like this is just intolerable,” Detective Sergeant Mark Ferling said.

Darling Downs drug operation, Quebec Trawler, continues

Police have seized illicit drugs and arrested 181 people on  545 charges while conducting an operation across the Darling Downs.
Operation Quebec Trawler commenced last month, targeting drug offenders including those involved in the use, supply and distribution of ICE and Cannabis.
Officer in Charge of the Darling Downs District Tactical Crime Squad, Senior Sergeant Matt Howard said all officers across the District are working extremely hard to disrupt drug use.
“The use of illicit substances has a detrimental, flow-on effect to the general community,” Senior Sergeant Howard said.
“Our local community has provided us with the information we need to tackle this network and get these drugs off the street.
“Clearly the people in the Darling Downs do not want these dangerous and destructive substances in their towns and are working with us to remove them.”

Appeal for information, cold case homicide investigation

Police investigating the homicide of Linda Reed on the Gold Coast in 1983 are appealing for the public’s assistance.
Detectives are appealing for any members of the public who have not previously come forward to police.
Cold case detectives specifically appeal for anyone who:

Observed a man behaving suspiciously in the carpark or within close proximity of Pacific Fair Shopping Centre on December 13, 1983 between 9am and 1:00pm;

 

Observed a man on Gaven Way (now Pacific Highway) in the vicinity of the intersection with Habana Street on December 13, 1983 between 12pm and 3pm.

Police also encourage any member of the public with any other information they believe may assist with this investigation.

Armed robbery of motorcyclist, Crestmead

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a motorcyclist at 2am this morning in Crestmead.
The male motorbike rider had pulled over to check map directions on his mobile phone when he was approached by two unknown males and threatened with a sawn-off shotgun.
The men demanded his grey Nike back pack and mobile phone and forced him off his motorbike.
Both men then rode off along Geaney Boulevarde on the motorbike.
The males are described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 30 years of age and wearing dark tracksuit style clothing. Their faces were covered at the time of the robbery.
The motorcycle is a black 2010   Kawasaki Ninja, Qld Rego. 518RB    (similar model to that pictured.)

The motorcyclist was not physically injured.
Police are appealing for anyone in the area who may have CCTV footage or may have witnessed the men riding the motorcycle.
