Public appeal: Break and enter, Helensvale

Police have released vision of two men they wish to speak to in relation to an alleged break and enter at Helensvale on June 30.
It is alleged that around 4.20am, a 37-year-old Mackay man was notified via a security alert on his mobile phone that a group of four men had forced entry to a shed at the back of his property, under construction, on Amazon Circuit.
The Mackay man viewed live footage, which was being uploaded in real-time via surveillance cameras mounted at the construction site, of the men allegedly stealing property such as; the surveillance cameras, solar panels and a modem, then relocating to another address where they allegedly consumed drugs.
Following investigations, Police arrested a man at a private residence at Connemara Street, Gaven on July 5.

Man located with tasers – Coombabah

A man has been charged in relation to the alleged discovery of four tasers and possession of restricted prescription drugs at a house at Coombabah last night.
Around 6.20pm a search warrant was executed at the Waranga Way residence where it is alleged four taser torch devices and a quantity of Viagra and opiate pain medicine Tramadol were located.
A 47-year-old man from Coombabah has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a restricted drug and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons and possess utensil/pipes.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on August 27, 2018.
Officer in charge of Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly said information from the public is an essential tool for policing.
“Here we have a situation where a number of dangerous weapons have been removed from the street directly from information supplied to police,” said Senior Sergeant Kelly.

Attempted armed robbery, Carseldine

Detectives are investigating after a restaurant was robbed in Carseldine overnight.
Initial information suggests that a man entered a Thai restaurant on Beams Road at 8.15pm and approached the front count8r.
The man produced a large metal pole and made demands for cash from a woman working at the business.
Following a verbal altercation with a man who was eating at the restaurant, the man then fled the scene empty handed and was last seen on foot on Beams Road.
No one was physically injured as a result of the incident.
The man is described as Pacific Islander in appearance, around 178cms tall and was last seen wearing a grey hooded jumper and had a black piece of cloth over his face.
Investigations are continuing.

Update – Robbery with violence, Nambour

Detectives have charged a man following investigations into the alleged robbery of a Nambour jewellery store yesterday.
It will be alleged the 28-year-old man entered the Lowe Street business around 3.45pm and requested to look at a gold chain that was for sale before fleeing the store with the jewellery.
A 28-year-old Margate man has been charged with two counts each of assaults occasioning bodily harm, one count each of robbery, threats, unlawful use of a motor and driving without a licence.
He is expected to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Update: Robbery, Caboolture

Police have charged three men following an alleged robbery incident at Caboolture this morning.
It will be alleged at about 5.30am in the northbound lanes of the Bruce Highway, a stolen Kia hatch was involved in a traffic crash with a truck.
It will be alleged three men who were in the Kia threatened the male driver of another car with a hammer and demanded his car however he refused to leave the driver’s seat.
The men then approached the female driver who had stopped to offer assistance.
The three men demanded the woman hand over her car keys, to which she declined and she threw her keys into the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway.
One of the men retrieved the keys from the roadway prior to the three men fleeing the scene in the woman’s Hyundai Santa Fe in a northerly direction.
No one was injured during the incident.

Appeal for witnesses – traffic incident, Sunnybank

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal traffic incident that occurred at Sunnybank yesterday morning to contact police.
Initial investigations indicate at about 2am, a man standing on Beenleigh Road came in contact with a dark coloured sedan that was travelling east.
The man did not appear to suffer any injuries however was struck by a truck a short time later and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police are appealing to any members of the public who witnessed the incident to come forward. In particular, they would like to speak with the driver of the dark coloured sedan who witnessed the actions of the man prior to being struck by the truck.

Suspicious fire, Burleigh Heads

Police are investigating a suspicious building fire at a Burleigh Heads industrial estate this morning.
Around 7.45am, police were advised of smoke issuing from a shed at Rothcote Court.
Emergency services attended and extinguished the fire.
The structure sustained significant smoke damage and minor flame damage.
Once the area was deemed safe, a crime scene was established and detectives accessed the building.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a hydroponic cannabis laboratory was operating in the roof of the rented shed.
Investigations are ongoing.

Robbery, Caboolture

At about 5.30am in the northbound lanes of the Bruce Highway, a suspected stolen Kia hatch was involved in a traffic crash with a truck.
The female driver of a passing motor vehicle stopped at the scene to offer assistance to the three men in the Kia.
The three men demanded the woman hand over her car keys, to which she declined and she threw her keys into the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway.
One of the men retrieved the keys from the roadway prior to the three men fleeing the scene in the woman’s black Sante Fe station wagon in a northerly direction.
No one was injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Historical rape charges

Detectives from State Crime Command’s Corrective Services Investigation Unit have charged a man with alleged historical rape offences.
Operation Mike Reduce was established to investigate complaints of rape of prisoners within Queensland Correctional Centres during 1994 and 2014.
On January 22, 2015 a 47-year-old man was charged with three counts of rape and three counts of assault with intent to commit rape as a result of complaints received.
As a result of further investigations, a number of alleged historical victims were identified and the man was subsequently issued with a Notice to Appear in relation to a further 26 charges.
Investigations have continued and further victims were identified resulting in the man being charged with 60 offences including assault with attempt to rape, rape, indecent assault, sexual assault and deprivation of liberty.
The 47-year-old, who is currently serving a sentence for similar offences in a Queensland Correctional Centre, is expected to appear in the Brisbane

Suspicious death, Crestmead

Police are investigating after a man has died in Crestmead overnight.
Preliminary investigations indicate at 9.10pm a man has attended at a Huon Street residence and an altercation has occurred.
The man, who is known to the residents, was restrained on the ground.
Police arrived and observed the man was not breathing. Police commenced CPR however the 28-year-old Slacks Creek man died at the scene.
Investigations are continuing.
