Luxury items stolen, Brisbane

Detectives are investigating the burglary of a Brisbane business this morning.
Police were called to the Queen Street store about 4am.
Two men drove a stolen white BMW wagon into the shop front causing damage to the doors.
Whilst inside the store, the men stole several luxury items.
The men left the store in the stolen car.
At 5.30am, the car was located in a burnt-out condition in Tiffany Street, Browns Plains.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the offence or anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have dash-cam vision to contact police.

Shooting, Bauple

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man who can assist with their enquiries, after another man was shot at Bauple yesterday afternoon.
Initial investigations suggest a conversation between two men took place, before the 28-year-old man was shot at an Acacia Road address around 3pm.
The man sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Detectives are searching for the man believed to be responsible, who is described as Caucasian, around 175cm tall with a scruffy appearance, beard and wearing dark clothing.
He then fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.
Anyone who sees the man is urged not to approach him and call police.

Fatal traffic crash, Wamuran

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash at Wamuran yesterday afternoon.
Preliminary investigations indicate, around 4:30pm, a white Mercedes Benz truck veered off the right-side of Viviani Road, colliding with a water drain and rolling onto the passenger side before hitting a power pole.
As a result, a 33-year-old male passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 50-year-old male driver was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Anyone in the area with dashcam footage is urged to contact police.

Indecent behaviour, Sunnybank Hills

Police are seeking public assistance to help identify a man who indecently assaulted a woman in Sunnybank on January 21.
The woman was walking alone at around 11.25pm on Mains Road near the intersection of Pristina Street at Sunnybank when a man approached her from behind and held her before he indecently touched her.
The woman tried to break free but was unsuccessful before she screamed loudly. The man then ran off along Pristina Street away from Mains Road. The woman was not physically injured as a result of the incident.
Police believe a man described as in his 20’s, approximately 170cm to 175cm tall, with proportionate build who travelled in a silver or grey colour sedan may be able to assist with inquiries into the incident.
The man was wearing a dark coloured cap and shorts at the time.

New Deputy Commissioners announced

Commissioner Katarina Carroll and Police Minister Mark Ryan have announced the Queensland Police Service (QPS) will transition to a four Deputy Commissioner model with a new Deputy Commissioner Regional Queensland to be permanently based in Townsville.
North Queensland will be split in to two police regions, one in Townsville and the other in Cairns.
An assistant commissioner will be based in both cities in another boost to police resourcing and community safety in the north of the state.
The placement of additional executive positions in these areas will support frontline police and support staff in the hard work they are doing to address policing challenges unique to that part of Queensland.
The Deputy Commissioner allocation under the new model will be:
o   Regional Queensland (located in Townsville) – Paul Taylor
o   Southern Queensland (located in Brisbane) – Steve Gollschewski
o   Crime, Counter Terrorism and Specialist Operations – Tracy Linford
o   Strategy and Corporate Services – Doug Smith.

Arrest of property offender, Bracken Ridge

A wanted property offender will face court on 63 charges after police intercepted the man in Bracken Ridge yesterday with a firearm allegedly concealed in his vehicle.
Around 9.15am on February 11 the 26-year-old Brisbane man was observed leaving a Scarborough residence in a car and tracked by police to Barrett Street in Bracken Ridge.
As officers intercepted the vehicle the man allegedly fled before he was taken into custody by specialist police in the yard of a nearby residence.
Four other occupants of the vehicle were also arrested.
A search of the car resulted in police locating a shortened firearm and ammunition.
A search warrant was then executed on a residence in Scarborough where officers seized a quantity of dangerous drugs (cannabis), utensils and a large number of power tools, hand tools and equipment identified as being stolen during recent offences in the Redcliffe area.

Arson charges, Bundaberg

Police have charged a man following the alleged arson of a church in Bundaberg early this morning.
Just before 4am emergency services were called to Barolin Street following reports a building was engulfed in flames.
The church, which was unoccupied at the time, was completely destroyed by the blaze.
A 42-year-old Bundaberg West man was later charged with one count each of arson, enter with intent and attempted arson.
He will appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court tomorrow.
No one was injured during the fire.

OMCG arrests, Gold Coast

Today police executed a series of search warrants throughout the Gold Coast, from Coolangatta to Yatala, targeting an organised crime syndicate and their offending behaviour.
Operation Romeo Ionic, commenced in 2019 investigating an organised crime syndicate involved in drug trafficking, vehicle re-birthing, fraud, money laundering and firearm offences.
Today’s actions have involved over 110 police from the State Crime Command-Organised Crime Gangs Group, the Gold Coast District, Australian Federal Police and other external agencies.
Actions included issuing 15 search warrants at properties across the Gold Coast resulting in eight people arrested on 18 charges, including weapons and drug offences.
Weapons including a handgun and rifle, various quantities of drugs and phones were seized during the searches.
Among the arrests was a 33-year-old Southport man and member of the Lone Wolf Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow for trafficking in dangerous drugs.

Update: Assault charge, Gold Coast

A second man has been charged following the alleged serious unprovoked assault of a man at an Upper Coomera gym last week.
The 22-year-old Helensvale man handed himself into police this morning where he was charged with grievous bodily harm, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a drug utensil.
He has been denied police bail to appear in Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Earlier this week, a 24-year-old Upper Coomera man was also charged with grievous bodily harm. He will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on February 24.

Assault, Thuringowa

Police are investigating an assault in Thuringowa yesterday afternoon.
Around 2.40pm, four people approached and assaulted a 16-year-old girl outside an educational facility on South Vickers Road.
A second girl and five adults, who came to the aid of the victim, were also assaulted before the four people fled.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police.
Investigations are ongoing.
